Why Alec Baldwin Didn’t Plead Guilty to Deadly ‘Rust’ Shooting – Everything Law and Order Blog

Alec Baldwin faces trial on July 9 for involuntary manslaughter in connection to the fatal shooting of the film’s cinematographer, Halyna Hutchins. The famed actor’s attorneys have worked tirelessly to get the charge thrown out after being indicted in January with no success. Baldwin claims he never pulled the trigger when Hutchins was shot, but experts say he did. Law&Crime’s Elizabeth Millner breaks down why Baldwin hasn’t pleaded guilty, even after his armorer, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, was convicted of the same charge.

  1. Who cares if the weapon was damaged they conducted all the tests they needed and the gun would not fire without out pulling the trigger they hit it with a hammer to get it to discharge and finally it broke so it was destroyed. Whether or not it was a cold gun he broke the 1st rule of handling a gun. Treat All Guns as Though They are Loaded!😮

  2. Who put the bullet in the gun there the ones that need to pay I thought in all movies they put blanks in all guns I think someone wanted her dead

  3. Hannah didn't mean to kill, it was her mistake, that's obvious. But this judge's closing speech sounded as if she was the one who pulled the trigger of this gun

  4. What did I hear on a previous video…… one does NOT point the gun at another actor, one ALWAYS points the gun to either the left or right of who's being shot at. ALL other staff to be outwith the line of fire. Who pointed the gun ………. Alec Baldwin.

  5. I am pretty sure Baldwin didn't mean to point a LOADED GUN at his co-stars. He would have been 'in character' and pointing what he believed a PROP gun or an UNLOADED weapon. The person responsible for oversight of all weapons on the site should be held to be responsible for the accidental death.

  6. I'm leaning towards the side of always treating a gun like its a gun. It's a healthcare crisis now, and if Baldwin isn't held accountable he could infect many other people.

  7. The most common reason for "not guilty" plea is the person knew they haven't done anything wrong. We've still not heard about investigation of the source of live ammo!

  8. When hannah started talking, she "breaks down" crying when she speaks about how its affected the film industry and how the media has portrayed her, not when she talks about halyna

  9. IT DOESN'T TAKE A GENIUS TO KNOW ALEC PLANNED THE SHOOTING. A FAMOUS WEALTHY STAR DOING A B RATED SHOW FOR PENNIES INSTEAD OF MILLIONS. HE HAD A GRUDGE AGAINST ALYNYA'S HUSBAND, HE SHOWED HIM NOT TO MESS WITH HIM

  10. Baldwin pulled the trigger. Someone is dead and Baldwin is responsible.

Everyone believes that it was not intentional but the trigger man needs to be held accountable

  11. When the prosecution initially offered a plea bargain of a misdemeanor charge with no jail time, I would have jumped at it in a second before they had a chance to change their minds. Surprised that Alec Baldwin didn’t take up on it. I think that’s far better than to wait and let this case go to trial where you never know how the jury may decide.

  12. Because he’s innocent! There are meant to be blanks in a film set or a toy gun! How the f did he know it had live rounds! It’s an accident let him go

  13. This guy has pulled the trigger on unloaded guns in movies and on TV for 40 or 50 years and none of them ever went off. This makes you trust and believe these props are always safe. Under these circumstances wouldn't everybody?

  14. ✨AB could have taken a plea deal with no jail time, and saved Mrs. Hutchins and her loved ones all this pain and grief. But he didn't, because he's a selfish narcissist, who won't accept responsibility even though the gun was in his hand! I fully support the New Mexico prosecutors, and will until the end ⚖️

  15. What was live ammo doing on a movie set in the first place? As the executive producer it would have been only Baldwin who could have ordered the live ammo, the prop guns and real guns were all on the same cart giving Baldwin plausible deniability when he decided to stage the murder!

  16. What does the Supreme Court have to do with this? Oh…he just had to throw his political views in there. Gotcha

  17. I'm still shocked that the armorer didn't get more time. At the end of the day she's the one that was responsible for all weapons on set. Not the actors.

  18. he spent so much time denying it, to plead guilty now wouldn't really get him anything in terms of taking responsibility.
