But on New Year’s Eve, a man broke into her home with his face disguised and voice distorted. He assaulted Metzer both physically and sexually, leaving her battered on a porch. Minutes later, Rodney Metzer showed up to help. Police later took him into custody…and he entered a guilty plea to 14 charges. Law&Crime’s Jesse Weber speaks with Morgan Metzer about her terrifying experience – and when she realized the masked attacker was actually her ex.

  1. I wanna know how come I dont get a movie out of my case?? Im also dying to know why exactly her story was the chosen one, where there are plenty other similar stories? with whom do I have to sleep with to make a movie of my story too?

  2. I see myself in this woman and truly resonate with what she is saying when she speaks about us (women) not talking to one another, not being authentic with one another. I was definitely guilty of this in my marriage and didn't disclose the abuse that was going on. It's not that I didn't try to tell, I wasn't fully truthful – it left room to rationalize the abuse (as crazy as that sounds). The last physical assault was December 2nd, 2019. He was arrested but made bail early the next day. He continued to break into the house, even with the PFA and launched a new method of abuse I hadn't experienced before – abuse through the legal system. He had a lawyer that would call me at work and leave tautening messages, called my father and twin to leave threatening messages and my own lawyer refused any sort of communication other than email as he was too abusive to her team to speak with. My ex went through several lawyers until he found one willing to play his game. Despite all that I went through, I was lucky. He quickly remarried (6 months from our divorce date) and told the court he moved out of my area. I am still dealing with the effects of the abuse but I am doing so much better with the help of doctors, family, and support groups. The biggest lesson I learned is to be more truthful. Don't try to just keep up appearances. Once a partner hits or physical assaults you, the chances of it happening again are a matter of "when" not "if". I am so amazed at the wonderful, beautiful people I have met through talking about my experience. What breaks my heart are the stories of the people who are no longer with us because of dv. I speak up for them too.

  3. She's insane if she even entertains the thought of having anything to do with him …ever. The children will be grown by then, so no contact is necessary.
