One night, the two were smoking marijuana together when the most heinous crime was committed. Spejcher allegedly entered a “cannabis-induced” psychosis and stabbed O’Melia over 100 times before stabbing herself and her dog, Arya. She admitted the voices told her to kill him, whether voices come from a person outside of your consciousness or inside your own head you still have a choice to act on their command. She made 108 individual decisions to stab that guy to death. She was in the drivers seat.

She has received absolutely incredible accolades. THC induced psychotic breaks are definitely a real thing. Llike a severe allergic reaction. But, I do think it's rare.
Bryn Spejcher, 32, was sentenced Tuesday to two years of probation, according to Ventura County Superior Court records. Last month, Spejcher was convicted in the 2018 fatal stabbing of Chad O'Melia, a man whom she had been dating for several weeks.

So this murderer is free because because reefer madness is still alive, wtaf?! If that's how it affects her for real she might be a danger to society if she has a drink. She needs a full psych evaluation and to be watched like a hawk, cannabis doesn't do this on it's own.
Many people don't understand the effects that cannabis has on the human brain; long term and short term. Not everyone is a candidate. Sadly, in this case, someone lost their life. In other cases, people have long-term neurological issues, and they are never the same.
Well, did they put him in jail after he got stabbed? Hopefully the police kept her safe and no one ever has to deal with her dangerous boyfriend again.

I run a successful spa and I have 3 bachelor degrees and a master degree. I bought my first house at 27 my second house at 30 and my third house at 33. We could never destroy you unless you let it destroy you but the worst thing is you would be stuck on your couch eating all day. We would never cause anything induced LOL
Im a cannabis smoker (use it medically at evening/night) and pretty much a pro cannabis individual yet i am aware of cannabis psychosis via my cousin and his gfs friend. Difference though.. both were heavy users!!
This woman is a doctor. Clearly very self-controlled and responsible. It's very likely she's never had experience with a mind-altering substance. She probably didn't feel the effects of the marijuana right away and then it all hit her at once. Not knowing what to expect, she freaked out. She killed Chad, her OWN DOG and injured herself repeatedly. Even the cops had trouble taking her down. I don't believe she did this intentionally, or that she's evil. The mind is a very powerful thing. I think she was psychotic in that moment.
However, she is still accountable. And while I disagree with the minimal sentence, I don't think she should get life in prison. She is going to have to live with the fact that she killed her boyfriend and her dog, as well as ruined her career that she worked hard to accomplish. I feel bad for her but she's still responsible for her actions

No justice for victim and family…….I hope they appeal…….take it to US Supreme Court…..domestic violence law does not apply here……the Judge made an error…….selectively applying the law….
I’ve met her. She seems genuinely remorseful. She’s now working to show the problems of high levels of cannabis

A best friend in high-school killed himself because he got so stoned and reality was too much to comprehend. Wrote a letter explaining it to his family. Pot is not for everyone

100 days of community service is a insult to both the victim & his family that judge needs to be removed from the bench. If the genders was reversed a man would get no less than 25 yrs – life in prison.
