A judge in California has reduced Bryn Spejcher’s charges from murder to involuntary manslaughter after she stabbed her boyfriend, Chad O’Melia, 108 times. An expert reportedly found that Spejcher was “acutely psychotic” at the time, after taking three hits of marijuana from a bong. The Law&Crime Network’s Jesse Weber questions forensic psychologist Dr. John Delatorre about the judge’s ruling and the validity of the defense’s psychosis argument.

  1. Don't be SO RIDICULOUS….. SHE smoked the weed……and SHE stabbed him ONE HUNDRED AND EIGHT TIMES!!!!!!!! SHE MURDERED HIM!!!!! WHAT THE ???? is going on!!!! The world has gone MAD!!!!!

  2. I appreciate Dr. Delatorre's straightforward-insight, knowledge & expertise regarding the aspects of this case. I also appreciate his ariticulate speaking.

  3. 10:42 in "Maybe her heart rate slowed down". This man has never taken a gummy and had a racing heart rate. Cannabis is a vasodilator, you take too much, the heart speeds up to keep blood pressure up because of expanded veins and arteries.

  4. I tried space cake with my then bf in Amsterdam and I had too much so I ended up throwing up for the next two hours, maybe almost died, but never had or thought of stabbing my then bf 108 times, or being violent with anyone. I feel this is premeditated.

  5. She must’ve got a bad batch. Weed smokers are the least dangerous people. Weed doesn’t work with everybody’s brain chemistry. Today’s weed is not yesterday’s weed. There’s all kind of toxins in it. I didn’t believe this story until they said she was stabbing herself and her dog. She was a dog lover. NO sane person who’s a dog lover would ever physically hurt their dog.

  6. The fact that she is trying to blame her boyfriend that she brutally murdered for her psychopathic actions is so ridiculously disgusting, what an absolutely abhorrent human being.

  7. this was an educated woman who knew how to fake a psychotic break. also..this was a rage killing, a murder of "passion" so she obviously was angry about something, or was an angry person.

  8. Starr from University of Michigan Law School found that, controlling for the crime, "men receive 63% longer sentences on average than women do," and "[w]omen are… twice as likely to avoid incarceration if convicted", also based on data from US federal court cases.

  9. Big Tookie (Co Founder of the Crips) killed someone under the influence of PCP. Gov Arnold (at the time) and the state of California gave him the death penalty.

  10. I’m not saying she actually was in a psychotic episode but you’re all wrong about saying pot has not psychotic effects.
My family has the genetics for schizophrenia. I didn’t know it. When my brother and I smokes weed which we’d been doing with no problem for a while he became completely delusional.. I won’t go into all the details but it was paranoid schizophrenia. We tried different weed, dosages etc.He was another human being and we became so scared that we had him locked up and that’s when he became himself again.. then smoked weed when he got out and boom right back at it.
Turns out there is a lot of research and it even says on medical marijuana that if you have any history of that illness DO NOT SMOKE. It literally does activate one’s schizophrenia. I’m not saying for everyone but that is 100% true and possible.

  11. What a fin joke. Pressured into it my a**. Also if it was laced woulda showed up on a test. Most moronic crap iv ever heard.

Yeah she tried to kill herself because she knew she was caught and didnt have time to try and hide it.

Either way she should be held responsible just the same as a drunk driver. This is a mockery of everything court and psychology wise and more. Rediculous

  12. This is a crime against marijuana in itself wow unbelievable I can’t believe what I’m listening to!!!!!!! Shame on the court

  13. Marijuana would’ve stop u from doing something like that… someone definitely sold them some PSP “angel dust”… definitely not marijuana

  14. Erie..she looks like Shanna Hubers and he a bit like Ryan Poston..at least Hubers is in prison..The system is full of holes and getting worse with these psycho babbling bleeding heart so called experts..sad

  15. Since when is committing any crime while under the influence of any drug an excuse for no consequences..she reminds me of Shanna Hubers.." The nose job murderer" of Ryan Poston..

  16. really blows my mind that a murder is viewed differently if you have a mental illness.. what about the person who died? They are not coming back regardless .. a murder is a murder even if triggered by psychosis… they shouldnt get a lesser sentence

  17. Listening to this guy talk gave me anxiety because of how wrong it sounds 🤦‍♂️. Anyone with common sense knows she flat out murdered him
