I've noticed an VERY marked increase in police misbehavior in my neighborhood since the Bloomberg years which has not ended with a new administration. The real estate industry owns all of our leaders here, lock, stock and barrel and it's such a pernicious influence, it shows in the policing.

14. 😩 A wiser strategy would be less gossipy protesting of LE and instead push directly to regulate (through new laws and specific guidelines, etc.) when police are allowed to even touch their firearms, etc:

    8:47 – was preventable by simply banning police from pointing their firearms at anyone who has their hands up (unless special circumstances clearly warrant otherwise). It would be more difficult for police to place a bullet in the body of someone if guidelines explicitly dictate that they are not allowed to even point their weapons in your general direction under such specific circumstances as when you have your hands up.

    17:37 – was preventable by banning police from walking toward stopped vehicles with their hands touching their firearms. The officer should NOT have been allowed under protocol to place his hand on his firearm during the routine interaction as it unnecessarily threatened the "father of 2“ with lethal force. So what could be the reason for the officer being allowed to withdraw his lethal firearm without provocation if he genuinely wasn't provoked? Simple regulation could address this. Ban officers from touching their firearms as a tactic to threaten and menace civilians into compliance.

    African-American Senator Tim Scott, for example, was also stopped by police for a headlamp being out (as a 16-year old!). Sure enough, the officer approached the then young black teenager's vehicle with his hand on his gun. Why are the rules allowing this? Rules can be changed. So seriously why cry about the shootings (thinking that mere tears on a shoulder would bring healing) when you could more wisely be actually fixing the problem pushing for specific changes to laws and adjustments to police protocols of engagement? 😔

20. This reminds me of what I said several years ago. In different cases than this, which were involving several videos where someone is told to drop the gun, they showed that if you drop the gun too slowly, you get shot, and if you drop the gun too quickly, you get shot. Meanwhile, different cops have different definitions of what is too slow or too fast, and that leads to overlapping which then leads to no particular speed being considered to be acceptable. In another video, you see a guy who was suicidal and was sitting on his front porch holding a gun. The cops proceeded to try and get him to drop the gun. So he tossed the gun off to the right many feet away. Once the gun was in the air flying at a significant speed far far away from him, the cops opened fire, and killed him. You just can't win !
