Dr. David Fowler stunned the world when he testified that Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin was not responsible for the death of George Floyd. But this is not the first time Fowler has taken a decidedly controversial position on a police involved killing.

PAR takes a deep dive into past rulings by Fowler while he was the Chief Medical Examiner in Maryland. We explore three decisions where evidence contradicted his assertion that police were not responsible for in-custody deaths, and his questionable use of quasi-science to bolster these claims to absolve law enforcement.

  1. if we the people start filing Tort claims against all these people, there will be some heads rolling. the corrupt courts can't "throw out" those claims, as Tort claims are not in their jurisdiction.

  2. Brilliant exposure and well delivered with facts. Same in Australia. There was a Royal Commission into Black Deaths in Custody. Now, we have more deaths in custody and have the highest jail than ever before. Recommendations from the Royal Commission have yet to be enacted on, and that was 30 years ago… White supremacy in Australia is a”hidden” atrocity and yes, the Police Unions and Associations defend the murderer with such vicious intend there has NEVER been one conviction ever in the history of policing. I feel for brothers and sisters in USA so stay strong..👍

  3. @11:46, here, you are wrong. The labor unions are corporations in the business of selling labor through representation. The labor unions must project the image that they protect the workers rather than profiting from the labor of workers. Like the police labor union and police fraternity that pool their defense money in the trial of Chauvin, so too the other labor unions in your hypothetical cases.

  4. Every time that I watch these modern torture, lynching and gang murder by police, my anger increases, exponentially!!!
The reality is that the american Court/Justice system has NEVER supported Justice!!! The american Political System is equally Corrupt!!!
It's past time for us to revisit the history of The Haitian Revolution…. just sayin'

  5. They're unable to see their child's eyes in our children's eye's. They don't see the grandfather, father, son, brother, or uncle in our men.

  6. First up, Thanx for your investigative work, Taya. This is the MURDER TRIAL of Chauvin, not Floyd's past (like they been painting it), which really has been blown up and out of whack (considering laws and incarceration here in Texas). In a "murder" trial, it's importante to establish "intent", finding intent here is a bit difficult, trying to say Chauvin "intended" to kill Floyd. But clearly manslaughter at some degree is obvious. Floyd and Chauvin also worked overlapping shifts doing security work at same nightclub, this should be questioned if they had previous engagements. With ALL the video documentation, which was more than adequate, the bottom line was that Floyd was NOT aggressive or violent in this incident, and the force against Floyd by Chauvin was aggressive, violent, uncalled for in this type of call, and out of order, and resulted in Floyd's death, any way you slice it. If Chauvin walks away with a slap on the wrist (which is too common in America), and the people react in anger, it is justified and in order … 2 zip ties (ankles and wrists), with a touch of pepper spray, is all that would be needed with so many officers, IF Floyd was ACTUALLY violent or resisting, which he was not. This is the United States of America … not communist China or some banana republic with a thug police force (even though it may seem like that at times). Chauvin (including his past write ups, which has as many as Floyd has busts) was way out of order and the lunatic here, and responsible for Floyds death at some point, at least manslaughter, negligent or not.
