I've had extra time to think about conservatives. Always puzzled me. My best guess is this. They exist in every ethnic group. They tend to be very socially cohesive. Conservatives view the world and life as harsh and unforgiving. They apply that belief into how they treat people. They believe that helping someone else who is in trouble breaks the rules of survival. They mentione personal responsibility. Nobody disagrees with responsibility, but they truly believe if you get in trouble you did something wrong to get there. They are incapable of differentiating personal responsibility from misfortune and circumstance, so they mix the two. This is especially true when applied to people from other cultures , belief systems or ethnic groups. They are also obsessed with social hierarchy, to a fault. They are the likely culprits of creating the delimma of "racial other". They are able to differentiate these things when applied to amediate friends, family and to some degree their own ethnic group. They also seem to like having a ruler or master and being subordinate to platitude from those rules. I am thinking this is because it gives them a feeling of being protected. You can't get through to these people on issues until it effect them, thier friends or immediate family. These people will be with us forever, so there is going to have to be a way we can live with them and still solve problems fairly and in a timely manner. The left leaning have thier faults too, so trying to out vote and move one without conservatives won't solve the problems we have either. Somehowe there need to be a broader contructive discussion towards majority agreement on right and wrong.

Humans are pretty tough animals. There will be a few difficult stories as with so many diseases. This is just another disease that we have to deal with. But compared to cancer, Alzheimer’s, this is nothing. It is better to die quick than a miserable lingering death. Most will be fine.
