California parents and teachers won the settlement by arguing that literacy is a constitutional right. The generational neglect of schools in communities of color shows ‘separate but equal’ is still the norm in California public schools.

  1. Part of this discussion should be how our children are damaged by GMOs in the food, glyphosate in food and water, Atrazine (causing sexual dysphoria) and tens of thousands of toxic chemicals in household products. We have lead and fluoride (neurotoxin) in the water. Add onto that the physiological and psychological effects of WiFi, and 5G which is even worse. I had to leave the country for my children's health. As a teacher, I saw more and more children with a plethora of cognitive, behavioral, and emotional problems, and the classes were getting larger and larger. They put toxins and sugars in the milk cartons, for goodness sake!

  2. The true reason our Government does not want to spend funds to educate its citizens is because of NAFTA! Now that we have lost most of our Cost of Living Jobs, those Jobs Outsourced to 3rd World, and/or Communist Countries like China, whereby they EDUCATE their People. Our government gives out tens of thousands of VISA'S, Green Card's etc, to HIRE Foreign Worker's to come to America to do Jobs that our educated Americans can do. Because they can pay Foreigner's HALF of what we could demand in salaries, it the main reason why our Government no longer cares about the American People!

I know this to be the truth, 1st hand experience, as I was FORCED to create Accounting Procedure Manual, on the Job that I performed for IBM, so that they could move our jobs to India, for less than HALF our salary! Because of NAFTA, it has done great harm to the American Workers, and the very reason, the Middle Class has diminished!

  3. It is not that the poor and black are taught worse than the wealthy and white. It is that ALL kids are taught badly. But wealthy parents can hire tutors to fix what schools cannot do, while poor parents cannot. That's it. It is a teaching problem. A public school system's problem. Not specifically a racial issue. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yOgqRTbgjxU Also see this article: https://edsource.org/2020/newsom-wants-more-dyslexia-screenings-services-for-california-students/623701 It says, "Advocates have been pushing for schools to teach reading in a way that’s easier for students with dyslexia to grasp, with a focus on sounds rather than whole words." Here! The schools are using wrong method to "teach" reading, which is not good even for regular students, and does not work for the less capable ones. Phonics works for everyone, but California prefers to spend money on some "research programs" instead of mandating phonics for everyone.

  4. I wish every state would do that 🌴💥🗯️💪👍👍👍👍♥️🖤💚👍🌴

  5. They should invest that money for those that are trying to get back into school….and meals. 😋

  6. hmmm you'd think the parents would have helped their kids with their homework and would have noticed the problem long before it got this bad …. wonder why the parents didn't do this .. oh right because they are lazy shit parents that don't take responsibility for the human life they created .. thats why ..

PS Real news .. is objective and non biased .. this channel is not real news its clearly biased and would be considered "opinion journalism" which isn't actual journalism since it violated the ethics code for journalists to remain neutral and report on the facts of a story ..
this is just as bad as CNN , and MSNBC , and FOX and all the other OPED "news" channels

cant anyone be a true journalist anymore without injecting their opinion .. cant anyone be a real fucking journalist .. ?

  7. I wish these people well, success. Children need quality ed. I won't develop on my school life starting from 1st grade but do wish children well ; for the children and their families, given that of course fair parents are going to want good ed. for their children. But, $53mn for the state of Cal. doesn't seem to be a lot, so I wonder about this. $50mn or so for what, 70 or so schools (?), like the guest says, it's HALF of a drop in a bucket, something like that anyway. This funding will hopefully be improved.

  8. The state test at these teachers give there should be a special agency that comes in in overseas how they perform the tests because when I was in school they gave us the answers gave us the answers to make it look like they were actually teaching us when in all reality they weren't teaching us they were teaching us how to get by an unnoticed until we were out of their hair… this was a school that was supposed to be given a test see how they were doing and they failed by giving us the answers to make it look like they were doing their job it's sad really f**** sad

  9. I went to public school in Pennsylvania.the psa tests to see how students are learning…the teachers gave us the answeres so they looked good.they would take our cigarettes and then give them back after the cops would leave during drug raids.this was in a school.i was taught 2+2 in 9th and 10th grade not because i didn't want to learn because they didn't care.i went to a vocational school that teacher taught me fractions in a week when all other teachers didn't even bother to try and teach us…at the time i thought it was cool now that im in my mid 30s i look back and realize how fucked up it was to be strung along….

  10. PARENTS are responsible for the education of their children. Don't rely on the system, the man or corporations to educate YOUR child.
