Chris Hedges: War profiteers are fueling this crisis

I realise that I maybe in a political minority and that the majority of the electorate in Western style democracy but still astounds me that the voting public largely support government policy and believe the rhetoric spewed out from a heavily biased media that supports white supremacy and increasing expansion of Western economic power. Am I correct? Or, is the media so effective that the only view is white is right or West is the Best? I'm a Christian by faith and cannot support the phobia towards the Third World. I find the electorate, the government and the media repugnant in the extreme, it runs contrary to all ethics and moral sense. I appreciate the risks that people like Chris Hedges and Abby Martin are taking in voicing an alternative point of understanding. I maybe naive but I was raised to seek truth at all costs. I want to relocate to Russia as prejudice towards Slavs is growing and if my life be taken I want to die in Russia which is my homeland. Das Va Danya comrades.

4. Hedges is a fine journalist. His reminder of the fact that Russia was double crossed is an uncomfortable truth as is the role of the military industrial complex in the failure to disband NATO and the present conflict in the Ukraine.

I agree with a lot of what Chris Hedges says but not a whole lot when it comes to defense.

    Ukraine was a willing candidate to be a USEFUL IDIOT, as US calls them. And US takes full advantage of it for their own interests. Military industry is a lucrative business, after all. The real goal was to break up Russia and loot resource rich Siberia.

    That's why US didn't want friendship with Russia, because you can't do that to a friend. Even criminals the likes of US don't do that. But even then they can turn it around and attack, once they cook up a sob story how they have to attack for humanitarian reasons to justufy their crime.

35. Ukrainian nazis have been attacking the Russian-speaking Ukrainians for 8 years in Eastern and Southern Ukraine while NATO kept arming Ukraine knowing that eventually, Russia had to respond. The corporate media and now the public media just don't know how to tell the truth anymore everything is about profits and keeping your highly paid job as a "journalist"

36. Ukraine was carved out of Russia. You have to remember that Ukraine means borderlands and doesn't refer to an ethnic group. The area called Ukraine is listed on maps prior to Lenin as "Little Russia". Ukraine as a physical entity was incorporated by Lenin but the truth is that the Tsars, Lenin, Nikita K. and Stalin put together Ukraine's boundaries like a puzzle. Ukraine as a political entity with it's own government, embassies etc. has never existed and was in fact historically always Russia carved out of Russian soil as a Russian Republic or State or Province. This makes it completely different from the former Warsaw Pact countries which did exist as countries prior to becoming integrated into the Warsaw Pact.
    Ukraine is a breakaway Republic that never did go about going through a formal secession process. Basically Ukraine stole assets of the Soviet Union for itself.
    Russia isn't engaged in any crime. Russia's invasion of Ukraine was prompted by Ukraine's plan to engage in military action against the Russian speaking people of the Donbass. Ukraine didn't abide by the Minsk Accords for 8yrs and that constitutes aggression also. You can't play the passive/aggressive role and claim to be a victim when you've done everything you could to agitate your opponent. If the police did this that would called entrapment and the person who is entrapped is innocent of committing any crime
    In your final comments you said that Putin has been restrained so far. I therefore ask you, has history ever had a war criminal who was exercising restraint? You also ignore the fact that Ukraine has committed many war crimes, including the bombing of the nuclear power plant which is a war crime. They've killed people who they suspect of collaborating with the Russians, placed their weapons in civilian facilities such as schools, hospitals and kidnapped civilians to use as human shields. And what about the Nazi Azov Battalion and the Right Sector. Why do you ignore the Nazi presence and why do you make no mention of U.S. meddling in the internal affairs of Ukraine and the Color Revolution it organized because it wasn't happy with the election results?
