  1. Brilliant – according to this guy our prime ministers Elizabeth May and James Cameron couldn't sort out Brexit. I hope our current PM, Linton Kwesi Johnson, can resolve it.

  2. This is not chaos! This is all theater, a sham democracy perpetrated by the establishment to give the illusion of choice. At least it is a better show than here in the US.

  3. Very good explained. Thank you. In my opinion, the European Left has been sabotaged since the beginning of the EU. Especially with the 'new' Left of Soros's contents.

  4. A Canadian & a Greek prattle on with NO real idea about uk politics. The great majority of working class/ underclass brits voted for brexit, as did many in the non-London middle class .Corbyn,a life long EU opponent has betrayed himself & many labour voters by backing this second referendum/castrated brexit rubbish.Labour will lose millions of voters & will be incapable of gaining power for at least a decade. If this channel wants to report accurately on Brexit then interview British people!

  5. One day in the 1950's I – then a boy of 15 – was perusing a copy of Time Magazine in my dentist's waiting room and came across a photo of a NO NUKES demonstration in London (in those days, ironically, there was far greater fear of nuclear war than there is now though the actual danger of it is much greater today), which was being rather roughly disrupted by bobbies wielding billy clubs, with demonstrators – mainly students – fleeing helter-skelter. The caption berneath the photo was: "Romans becoming Italians", evoking the stereotyped image of Italians (actually true to some extent) as a chaotic, disorderly people at the antipodes of classic British composure. Well, fast-forward 60 years and, viewing the chaotic behavior of British MP's and the Brits in general over Brexit, one can say with considerably more justice that they look indeed like Romans becoming Italians.

  6. I liked the interview, although its the least "I can catch up" interview ever. A lot of chop and crop going on. The speaker has to relate better

  7. Costas touched on the dilemma fracturing British politics. Theresa May is a Remainer leading a Brexit party, while Jeremy Corbyn is a Brexiteer leading a Remain party. So, May is pretending to be a Brexiteer while Jezza is pretending to be a Remainer!

  8. The EU, and the politicians arent interested in working for the people. The people voted to leave, this undemocratic EU dictatorship. So what will happen? What always happens when people arent voting as they are supposed to. A new vote.

  9. Oh, come on, RNN, it was all staged to end up at no Brexit at all. Jeremy Corbyn and Teresa May both sold out the MAJORITY of the British people. People in Britain get that.

  10. Neoliberalism and disgusting Blairites hanging on to power at all costs….It has to be ripped out of their hands by the people's socialism movement..It has to be driven, by "The working poor"….a form of Yellow Vests may be in "order"

  11. Note to all foreign correspondents! What you refer to as the ‘UK’ is properly known as GREAT BRITAIN. The full designation of this country on passports is ‘United Kingdom of GREAT BRITAIN and Northern Ireland’ not ‘United Kingdom (of Great Britain etc.)’. The word ‘of’ is significant as it points to additional explanatory information. Would you refer to France as the ‘Republic’ (of France)? Furthermore, it ill behoves outsiders ignorant of British parliamentary procedures to jeer and mock that which they do not understand. Take a serious look at recent behaviour in the Congress of the United States of America, for example, where one branch of government set out to block action by another branch leading to a President acting unilaterally on several occasions through Executive Orders. We in Great Britain are faced with a major change to our political and economic status, with consequences that have yet to materialise. The entire debacle arose from a weak Prime Minister failing to manage the bullies in his party. Instead he called a referendum (which is a rare aspect of politics here) on a simplistic basis of Leave or Remain without further explanation of the aftermath. What resulted was a very nasty, unpleasant eruption of xenophobia and prejudice towards the existence of any representation of European origin as with the European Union, the European Court of Justice or the European Court of Human Rights. That in the face of 27 other European countries participating in those organisations without concern. If you had listened to the many angry statements by members of the public since 2016 you would assume that Great Britain was under attack from Johnny Foreigner, led by the demagogues of Brussels! Images of Churchill, cigars, V signs and Dunkirk were bandied around by those in the Leave camp. That is not how I want my fellow Europeans to see or hear from this country. It is both appallingly disrespectful and highly dangerous towards those from other countries in Europe, and elsewhere. Disgraceful and shameful behaviour aided and abetted by right wing Tory grandees who have taken precautions to transfer funds from here to banks in Ireland (an EU country!) before Britain does or does not leave the European Union. Hypocrisy or not? This is the context within which Members of Parliament are trying to resolve what has become a political version of squaring the circle! No wonder it appears chaotic.

  12. The EU – like the early United States – is a battle between federalists and states' rightists. And ultimately it will come down to a battle between secessionists and unionists, with civil conflict perhaps deciding the issue.

Unions often make strategic and economic sense – but politically they're fraught with antagonisms.

Some of those antagonisms can stem from the Left, but mostly they're due to
    reactionary and nationalist sentiments.

When things go wrong, as they inevitably do – the union becomes the whipping boy, sometimes with justification but often without grounds. Independence becomes the reactionary panacea to all ailments.

  13. To add to Costas remarks on what promise the European Union was build upon and why the British and Continental European Left is struggling with it, is that it is indeed an elite project for the (financial) capitalist class but sold as a force for good and peace among European countries after WW2 which is very attracting to the left. Public relation has done its best to portray the European integration solely as a peace project and not what is de facto is: A capitalist project
