Cop City, RICO, and corporate fascism w/Taya Graham & Stephen Janis | Rattling the Bars – Everything Law and Order Blog

After two years of resistance against the proposed “Atlanta Public Safety Training Center,” more commonly known as Cop City, more than 60 activists associated with the movement have been indicted on RICO charges. The push to build Cop City and the heavy-handed state response to local protests cannot be separated from the past decade of neoliberal crisis and anti-police protests rocking Atlanta and the country at large. Taya Graham and Stephen Janis of the Police Accountability Report join Rattling the Bars for a special crossover episode on the movement to Stop Cop City.

  1. Don't charge them with RICO, hit them with terrorism charges and treat them like the wannabe "revolutionaries" they are!

  2. What if the cops or right as violent as racist that are black are ? And are on the wrong side of history according to what's been happening.

And it's not anarchism it's fascism, according to the science of jargons ?

  3. The blue line night club in cop city is straight out of a fiction novel. Criminlising peaceful public descent wiil backfire when unpeaceful public descent is the only option. Using the RICO ACT is blatant retaliation in its worst form. STOP COP CITYS NATIONWIDE

  4. Bad __ Abuse
    Nice __ ignore
    Good __ Intervene

@copwatchtv @policelawnews @officerbluegun Call us crazy when asking hard questions like "Why does Internal Affairs fail so MISERABLY at holding police accountable." He also said to just comply and its virtually impossible for police to harm you unprovoked! What a clown! I'll troll for the people! Ill ask the hard questions for the LOVE of the people! I have it recorded…somehow this behavior was almost PREDICTABLE! You know its a problem when you can damn near predict the outcomes! But yeah, CopwatchTV, I'm ignorant…❤ Thats why he won't post the live chat…but i got it! Dismantle! Reform! Basta!

  5. "The price good men pay for indifference to public affairs, is to be ruled by evil men." – Plato

“They who can give up the essentials of liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, lose both, and deserve neither!” – Benjamin Franklin

The police use the same verbiage and mindset of a serial rapist, or abuser, “Just do what I say, and things will go easier for you.”

“If taxation without consent or monitoring is not robbery, then any band of robbers have only to declare themselves a government, and all their robberies are legalized.” – Lysander Spooner

“When plunder becomes a way of life for a group of men in a society, over the course of time they create for themselves a legal system that authorizes it and a moral code that glorifies it.” – Frédéric Bastiat

  6. If one should take the time to look at the laws regarding Rico, You WILL find the Police department/ establishment, are corruptly misusing and misrepresenting the Rico laws.

What are the 3 types of racketeering?
-Drug trafficking, money laundering, embezzlement of funds are all forms of racketeering.

What is an example of a RICO case?
The types of offenses that may most often be adapted to RICO use are bribery, extortion, theft from interstate shipment, embezzlement, and interstate transportation of stolen.

    * Racketeering can be prosecuted at the state or federal level.
    * Federal crimes of racketeering include bribery, gambling offenses, money laundering, obstructing justice or a criminal investigation, and murder for hire.
    * At the state level, racketeering includes crimes such as murder, kidnapping, gambling, arson, robbery, bribery, extortion, dealing in obscene matters, and drug crimes.

  7. Yup they need cop city. To learn how to kill us faster and easier…..90millon can go a long way to help the people out here who need help….

  8. They should make a cop city but not for training, to live there forever. Send all those "bad apples", tyrants and boot lickers there and let them live in their authoritarian utopia. Keep them away from our FREEDOM in America

  9. Outstanding. “I’ve got issues with reforming the police.” Now that’s funny. Seriously. I live here! The whole city is already Cop City; it’s a police state everywhere you go seen and unseen. Went to the mall after years away one day, more police than consumers, workers. A stunning provocation to mass resistance.

  10. Abuse of power is treason against the people. The US is already de facto fascist, as the rich and corporations control the government and make the rest of us subjects to their rule. This is not new, but the abuses are more visible thanks to alternative media. The powers that be benefit from the divisions that they stoke, be it race or class or religion or whatever. It is only when we recognize that the enemy is not (usually) your neighbor, but those who seek to rule us, that we may be able to unify to demand that the country work for us, not the other way around.

  11. I'm inspired to make a TT video highlighting this segment. Excellent information!!! Absolutely necessary for making critical, well informed decisions. These courts have gone too far! The more we sit back and watch this travesty of justice, the less security we have. "Apathy and complacency guarantee tyranny!!!" Get up!!!

  12. This was very refreshing to watch. I don't know enough about cop city, but it sounds very scary. Shouldn't your police start with a decent education. Going through a 6 months training isn't a decent training. It's a disgrace of the highest level. Cop's knowing and implementing the law would solve so many of your problems. Instead off all those egotistical idiots. But i keep saying you all need to unite and stand up against all the idiots you have in politics.

  13. We need to boycott all corporations that support cop City like coca-cola wells Fargo and chase bank along with striking and protesting all at once plus boycott all republican states and businesses and corporations and oligarchs and start putting up new elected officials to replace all of the city officials and mayor and Chief of police if it's not done all at once nation wide if we don't do this we will lose
