The efforts of cop watchers and First Amendment auditors to record police continues to be a controversial subject. Some use aggressive tactics that critics say go too far, others argue the country’s law-enforcement-industrial complex needs to be aggressively challenged to yield results. PAR examines the contours of this debate through the case of Denver cop watcher DJ Kdot the party. Dj Kdot was arrested by police in Aurora, Colorado, for allegedly interfering with an investigation while filming a traffic stop. What happened when the case went to trial reveals much about the state of cop watching today, the extent of our First Amendment protections, and the expansive reach of the US criminal justice system. Please join journalists Taya Graham and Stephen Janis for this important episode of the Police Accountability Report!

  1. The lawsuits do not seem to be big enough to get the taxpayers attention. Auditors need to step up the traps, money talks.

  2. #1 ALL COPS HAVE EGOS! #2 ALL COPS LIE (because they are allowed) TO ARREST YOU! #3 if judges would make the cops pay court costs and be reprimanded, you would see less of these types of false arrest (but they don't). Terrible

  3. I watch "cop watchers" and people stopped by police to learn how to stay out of trouble while interacting with police so I don't end up in jail. I don't like all the foul language. I am not against police. I am against bad police, and you never know when you may come in contact with one. -I am a pastor.

  4. OMG,,,It just hit me, isn't this the police dept that killed Elijah Jovan McClain, where they were choke holding him and then the rescue guy gave him an overdose of ketamine., I think the 3 rescue guys were charged with manslaughter and their trial was set for July 2023

  5. He should sue for this or it ll continue, this is worth $ 40,000 or better, I've seen this happen many time and they had to settle !

  6. By the amount of YouTube videos coming out of Colorado lately, they're starting to give "a Florida Man" a run for their money!

  7. One thing a lot of people don’t know is that pigs are trained on how to circumvent our rights and most citizens don’t know their rights. ACAB 1312

  8. All of “We the people” need to start cop watching, they do the things they do because their never held accountable. They think because they have a gun and a badge that their ABOVE THE LAW, organized crime, ACAB 1312

  9. FFS! the 1A community? it was said 5 times this is a win for the 1A community, which is0000000000.1 % of our people, this is a win for all FREEDOM LOVING AMERICANS 100% of us!!!

  10. What’s the bad guys all about they seem to show up often but the girls don’t mind the guys would call the cops to get rid of them!

  11. It's not illegal to film police officers when they are handling a traffic Stop . It only becomes illegal when you interfere with the traffic Stop or obstruct a LEO.

  12. This auditor is in reality, no longer an auditor. The moment he was instantly aggressive and impolite he wasn't auditing anything other than himself, yes, he failed.

  13. In the 50's, my dad knew a couple cops who said whenever they got a call, they went as slowly as possible hoping the problem would be over. They were not interested in protecting anyone. Is this what we want? You can disagree respectfully even go to court for 1st amendment rights. But please do not call police names like fat pigs or cuss at them. They don't deserve that. I film in public too, but I don't make an ass of myself like the 1st amendment auditors do just to cause trouble.

  14. IMO I feel regardless of how the auditor acts the police are the ones on the clock getting paid by the citizens and must contain a higher level of professionalism at all times while on duty.
