A questionable traffic stop by an Arizona highway patrol officer reveals how the powers bestowed upon police are ripe for abuse. Video shows how the officer escalated the encounter after he was challenged by a motorist to justify his actions. PAR breaks down how the misuse of police power during a single car stop reflects a broader anti-democratic imperative that drives American policing.

  1. The usual Graham/Janis garbage. He was found guilty at trial of failing to obey a police officer and yes, he was represented by legal counsel. So will they delete this BS video? Nah, of course not.

  2. Another FAIL from Steve the "special needs" correspondent who can't seem to get an answer out of anybody about anything😂😂😂

  3. Qualified immunity should only be used to protect police doing their job the right way, to protect them from lawsuits from anybody they've ever touched while in uniform or like if they do something in good faith that wasn't exactly the correct process, etc. Using it to defend them from forcing a drug test lab tech to lie or lose his job is far from "qualified" in my book and likely anybody with hair a brain would agree.

  4. The driver should've gotten out of the car. Cops have the legal right to have any driver exit the vehicle. He's a douche cop, but he has the right to have anybody exit. Remember that when you get pulled over. Yanking somebody out on a highway is extremely dangerous for both parties, the driver can be pulled to hard and into traffic, the cop can be kicked into traffic. It's really dumb on the coo to have the guy exit, but he will be backed up by every judge in the country, it's been settled for a long time.

  5. Your gf should have kept her mouth shut whilst you were trying to speak – she made it worse by interjecting & talking over the top of you. I get the cop was an idiot/arsehole but next time your gf needs to stop taking. Only the driver is involved in the stop, it was none of her business to interject especially as it was so noisy & hard to hear anyway. Just a point that you might want to advise her of. She will get you into bother next time guaranteed – some women never know when it is time to be quiet I have seen it happen so many times where they make it worse or say things that actually end up getting their partners arrested for being mouthy instead of silently utilising the 5th amendment.

  6. ABOLISH QUALIFIED IMMUNITY IMMEDIATELY!
Hypocrisy, The Officers, was out of control De-escalate. Both Officers were hostile pulling the man out of the car and pointed tasers at the man.

  7. I see that I been here before.
I don't know how much to say I am mostly on this guys side, or that I am mostly against the asshole cop.
Why modify the exhaust? Even if it is legal, it is an invitation. Does it give some worthwhile improvement of performance, or some such?

  8. What is at odd's in the U.S. law enforcement sytem is:
1–They swear an oath to protect the constitution, but are taught to ignore it to get quotas for the department.
2– The have serve and protect on their vehicales, but most times they are the ones people need to protected from.
3– Bring in QI, weapons, a badge and less training time that a plumber has to have you will get people with agresive tendaces applying.
4– They target low imcome communities, and tourist routes in small counties with speed traps.

I stopped traveling to the states in 1990 after a 3rd stop, with my young family, from a state tropper, in a remote area of Montana. Each time they come to the vehicle with a gun drawn. Start sceaming orders to get DL and what not. Never got a ticket, and twice I was told that reason for the stop was they had never heard of Alberta. It's in Canada. Who needs that on a camping trip.

  9. As far as I understand it, cops are only allowed to pull people from cars for matters of officer safety. Clearly, there were no such issues here. They were just power hungry.

  10. Your cops are CRAP….both Joe Public and cops would go over the Motorway (Highway) safety barriers…..end of.. 😡🇬🇧
