I've never been there, except for ONE night in some local prison in the Estrie region of Quebec, Ca., it was lousy and I was there for just one night. Ha. I learned through others over the years that conditions were better in larger Canadian prisons, and that's good, if true, but it was LOUSY where I was for a night. I was placed in a tiny cell for one detainee, where there already was one occupant, so had to sleep on the floor, which was ok, given the principle of first arrived, first served, f.e., but some other detainees asked why I was there, trying to find out what kind of guy I was. Cute stuff like that. Well NO ONE there had good conditions! It was just a local prison, for crying out loud ; food to kill at the kitchen. Short but nonetheless fine this TRNN episode is. Yes short, but I still got something from it. I'm sure that we could learn a lot more about the whole situation. And I believe to agree with KC Ronn saying that, " _ Prison is a big money business_ ". Afaik, yes, plenty of "business". There have to be people profiting from this sort of incarceration system. Taxpayers pay for this, but there are profiteers. The system is unfair and I have no doubt about it. There was a man finally released from a 25-year prison sentence, when he had ALWAYS declared to be innocent, but a court or some courts had ruled against him. It took 25 years, or so, for a court to finally rule that he had always said the truth. Ha, asinine courts! Of course some people are convicted when truly guilty, but even innocent people have been convicted for acts they didn't commit. And when people are understandably convicted, then it must be done justly. Where does this happen?
Prisoner's make 1 dollar an HR. That's eight Dollar's a day five days a week 32 Dollars per month. Damn.
