As a veteran I thank the both of you for this wonderful conversation. The V.A. is quite literally my lifeline and though it has had its' problems, it is all in all the best healthcare system in the U.S. In addition, the problems at the V.A. have come from past inadequate funding and an infestation of neo-liberal thinking and policy making.

Sounds very much like what is taking place here in the UK as with the National Health Service which similarly is being contracted out to private companies. Shame on polititions who instigate this undermining of the VHA.
Politicians have been forcing situations that help keep the VA from solving their issues, just like they have with the Post Office so that they can convince the people that privatizing the system is the only way to fix it. It's a Chicago School of Economics (AKA: Chicago boys, neoliberal) scam that both mainstream parties (Republican and Democrats) participate in.
Anyone that profits from war. WAR PROFITEERS. Should be forced to pay 100% of the medical costs for vets. Until the vet no longer meeds care or to the point where every dollar of profit is spent. Disgusting.

My mom is a former nurse who has a kid with a congenital disease. She knows about health care. She hates her current husband and is only staying with him because she doesn't want to switch from VHA to consumer insurance.
