It was once believed that police killings were the 14th leading cause of death among young people. However, a new Rutgers University study by Frank Edwards, which used federal statistics and journalistic investigation found that the death rate is far higher now. We discuss the research with Frank Edwards

  1. So when you rank incidents of police fatalities, then make a model. Then plug in young black males, they rank 6.
    Still a .1% chance, so… negligible?

  2. They outlawed drugs because they're dangerous, time to consider the same for murderous cops. The US Constitution doesn't mention an armed gang roaming the country, that are allowed to kill citizens at will. In fact they VIOLATE numerous articles, and amendments, making police unconstitutional. No wonder people HATE the police.

  3. I wonder what the first 5 are and can anything be done in those categories to reduce their deaths???? Why not tackle the biggest problems first???? Why are we not hearing about that????

  4. They can say it 6th on the list and that’s fine but they won’t tell you the likelihood of it actually happening. Like you have more change of being hit by lighten then being shoot and killed by a 👮 1/1000 0.00000004% chance. This is how they polarize a situation and get black emotional going.

  5. Suicide rate for kids ages 10 to 14 nearly tripled in last decade: CDC

Suicide rate among older teenagers has increased by 76 percent between 2007 and 2017, new federal data show.

In 2017, suicide was the second leading cause of death for children aged 10 to 14, teenagers 15 to 19, and young adults ages 20-24

Meanwhile, homicide ranked as the third most common cause of death for teens aged 15-19 and adults aged 20-24, and the fifth most common cause for children aged 10-14.

“Not only is suicide trending upward, but the pace of increase is actually accelerating,” said the report’s co-author, Sally Curtin, in an interview with NPR.

Homicide rates for teens aged 15 to 19 increased 30 percent to 8.7 deaths per 100,000 persons in 2017.

From 2000 to 2017, the suicide rate for adults aged 20 to 24 increased by 36 percent from 12.5 deaths per 100,000 persons to 17. During that period, the greatest increase (average of 6 percent annually) in homicide for this age group occurred from 2013 to 2017

Homicide rate for young adults aged 20 to 24 increased by 15 percent from 2014 to 2017 (12.1 deaths per 100,000 persons)

Glenn Thomas, a clinical director of community-based services for behavioral health at the Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Ohio, told CBS News that the rates of depression have increased in a consistent manner with the suicide rate.

Suicide was the 10th most common cause of death among all Americans in 2017.

Lisa Horowitz, a pediatric psychologist at the National Institute of Mental Health, told The Washington Post that the increase in violent deaths should bring a “call to action.”

“Just looking at these numbers, it’s hard not to find them completely disturbing,” Horowitz said.

  6. Suicide is Gen Z's second-leading cause of death

The suicide rate for people aged 10 to 24 increased by 56% between 2007 to 2017, according to new data from the CDC.

For children aged 10 to 14, the suicide rate tripled between 2007 to 2017 after years of decline.

Suicide had increased among millennials, but the data suggests Gen Z might be most at risk for mental illness.

The USA represents 4% of the world’s population, yet holds 30% of the world’s prisoners; and histories largest collection of children prisoners.

The USA is not a very safe place for all the boys and girls – It’s the murder capital of the world!

  7. Statistically (according to the National Center for Health Statistics, as well as Stastista) this is wildly inaccurate.

Between 2017-2019 there were a total of 2,588 fatal police shootings (spanning all age ranges).

Homicide by Shooting (ages 15-24) has an annual number of 4,553, coming in 3rd for that age group.

In 3 combined years, police shootings ending in death (regardless of age) equal just over 56% of the 3rd leading cause of death for 15-24y/o (not factoring in homicides in other age groups).

Statistically, there is no way that fatal police shootings are the 6th leading cause of death for young people.

Also, the first point in the video is that Black and Latinx individuals have a higher risk of being fatally shot by police. Over the last 3 years, White people have been killed in 949 reported police involves fatal shootings. Combined, Black, Hispanic, and "other" total 953 (with 538 cases of "unknown" race). Fatal police shooting are on a drastic decline, statistically, among all racial groups.

  8. heres the top 10….

    Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (LungDiseases)

    Diabetes

    Influenza and Pneumonia

    Suicide

    Kidney Disease

    Alzheimer’s Disease

  9. Sure, this happens unjustly. I don't doubt it. However, I bet if they took out the number of people who resisted arrest and/or were repeat offenders, the deaths become negligible. I also bet if more minority families had positive father figures these numbers would go down. Ok race baiters and victim culture promoters…..fire off in 3, 2, 1!

  10. I don't care about the 6th cause. There are 5 higher risks. What are they?
All i need is a gun and/or vest to prevent this from happening. There's enough of those for every man in the country.

Non issue really. Police haven't changed so how is this still a problem?

  11. Age 25-29 is #6?! 25 is not young. They should also separate the number from specific cases such as if the person was armed or unarmed and etc.

  12. Not for nothing, they're doing all this for #6. How about #1-5? Also whats the differential from #1 to #6?

  13. Stop spreading these lies smh. This list is directly from the CDC , police shootings aren't even measurable. More Democrat distractions and pandering. Yall need tonwake up. A person that refuses to read has no advantage over a person that never learned to read. Wise up people, thisnis nit that hard to find. Stop spreading this fake 💩. We have real problems to deal with and instead of demanding accountability you lemmings are on Fakebook helping the insalubrious idiots that are responsible for our problems smh. Grow tf up!!!

    Here is the physical link…..

  14. Yeah, this is completely inaccurate. Now, before all you idiots start attacking me about it, I'm a criminologist. What I do is study crime, data and statistics. This is one of the most ridiculous things I've actually ever read. Don't believe everything you read on the internet.

  15. I'm sorry, they dont state the source. Cant buy it.
Especially when they leave out shit like 6th leading in homicide deaths.

Like how do they quantify it and place values? What are the different types that they compare it to? How many categories?

I mean … there are like 12k murders a year but car accidents kill like 60k, medical malpractice kills like 600k
    Cigarettes kill like 90k

So obviously it cant actually be 6th unless they are saying as far as homicides go.

In which case how are they classed? Police killings rank 6th as opposed to…. what? Burger King employees?

  16. Stay armed and dont let these trigger happy cops take your life defend yourself against them. I dont wanna take a life but I'd be damned if I dont fight for mine period
