Macron said the alliance is brain dead, and Trump tweeted about Europe not paying its fair share. Bureaucratic inertia and vested interests are keeping NATO alive.

  1. NATO is a US foreign policy tool to promote US interests first and foremost. Europe needs to become independent before it gets dragged into a disaster.

  2. The Rockefellers, the Fords and Co. always needed it to destroy competition, socialist (not provocative in spite of bourgeois propaganda) or national-capitalist.

  3. War is a racket and NATO is the ultimate Western mob racket, it should be disbanded and I wish Trump would destroy NATO but too much of the so called left has Trump/Putin derangement syndrome and loves NATO despite the fact its clearly Anti-left and props up imperialism.

  4. Who needs a US dominated military organization which helps them doing the dirty work? Europe itself does not need the "protection" of the US anymore and, like the US/Trump insists, nobody really wants to expand military spending, because it´s not necessary. We already have enough military potenzial to destroy the whole world in a blink. So, there´s no need for the NATO nor does Russia, or anyone else, be a seriously threat. Disarmament should be announced and be done in the near future. Russia, declared as biggest threat (I´m not convinced with that) needs money at home and only ordinary people here like there pay for the arms race. We need urgently actions against the climate crises, not more military spending.

  5. Ask yourself why Trump is trying so hard to dismantle NATO and then you'll know whether or not it's of any value to the US. Of course it's still a viable alliance.

  6. Ya. I think some of the European friends are remembering again and wondering why they should keep supporting NATO. oh yeah we already beat the Soviets. And we are going to keep going? Making another war? Making new targets?

  7. Trump making noises. That's the most accurate description of current potus! Lol. Actual politics is being done elsewhere and potus is just to act as a distraction to naive ppl.

  8. I wish we could all developed the outward expressive nature if David Gibbs. He knows the subject absolutely and can then provide perspective that reveals Trump and others as politicians just creating a scene not deserving of true attention and at the same time provide informative, educational facts about the actual outcomes of NATO ( Milton Freidman's goons playground? ) interventions.

  9. Well, everyone knows Russia is not going to attack anyone.
This is a about a dying breed of western European elites.
NATO is not what NATO was in WWII.
But it fascinates me that the left has no understanding of taxation as a form of surplus value and that this is the reason Trump will get re-elected.
Yes, because the left does not understand surplus-value and where it comes from that people who do understand it, on either side of the spectrum, will get the vote of the common working person every time .
Trump understands the surplus value taxed from the incomes of working people is shared out to support European elites. This is a significant burden the prior presidents ignored and working people would like to be relieved of this burden even if their reasons are not all accurate of the true source of that economic burden. It is not all due to NATO that the American taxpayer loses out on the wealth they create. Actions aimed at slowing down the economic growth of a true rival is too costly to bear. This comes at a time when Trump has made and is making the rich richer but in refusing to pay taxes the sacrifices the rival imposes is a burden on America's common working people. A burden when industries are not developed enough as the rival's industries and to make up for that inefficiency, work is intensified.

What I find interesting is how Biden worries Trump instead of Bernie. Bernie would cut off NATO because it makes sense and use that money for a Green New Deal, and with the Chinese rival he'd have to develop diplomatic ties for an integrated world economy to cut the tax burden fighting them on America's working class. I guess it shows that understanding surplus-value and where it comes from is not enough even for people with working class or immigrant roots. You also have to be connected to the real economy of real people in a concrete way to run a world economy.

  10. NUKE LOVERS — DEVIL’S MOST VALUABLE DISCIPLES
Empire USA has more nukes than Russia, France has more nukes than China,

and of the 9 nations that have nukes, 7 of them are Western or pro-Western countries.

And if we compare the number of nukes to the amount of wealth in each nuke hoarding nation, we discover that the one and only purpose for such satanic deadly force is to enable a nation to hoard more of the satanic power and glory of satanic wealth.

And so, what has been the end result of such satanic goings-on? A most dishearten thing, for the 9 nations with nukes in all the world have been the most aggressive, invading and violent toward their neighbors.

Further, guess which 9 nations hold the world record for being ruled by billionaires and for creating the most disparity by enslaving their laboring-class as the 50% working-poor?
You guested it — USA, Russia, China, France, UK, India, Pakistan and North Korea.

  11. NATO should have been disbanded when the Soviet Union dissolved on December 26, 1991. Its only real purpose today is to make vast amounts of money for the US' military/industrial complex.

  12. "do we STILL need nato?" the title itself is ridiculous. From it's beginning NATO has always been not only unnecessary but destructive.

  13. Trump is not really a loose cannon. Trump plays the roll of good cop, bad cop, all himself. He attacks with one hand and offers the chance of a "deal" being made with the other. Trump wants to make over all of our institutions and foreign policies with his name on them. Political branding is the name of the game. And NATO is useless to its intended purpose. In the past the US was happy to pay more than its share for NATO because it meant the US could continue to set the agenda.

  14. NATO needs to restructure and refocus or die. An alliance focused on China and international terrorism….with membership only for countries that contribute their share in it.

  15. Trump literally never done anything in regards to NATO other than trying to get European nations to buy more American weapons.

  16. We should've disbanded NATO after the Warsaw Pact disbanded. Instead, we decided to shove NATO in Russia's face over and over again. This is silly. Time to leave.
