On Saturday in Berlin, President Obama said progressives shouldn’t attack other progressives, saying it’s a “circular firing squad.” But are corporate Democrats within the progressive camp?

  1. Enjoy your mansion. Coming to a end. Their is no purity. Your not a american citizen and those ate not your children and your wifes name is michael not michelle. Your a fake and a phoney

  2. I completely agree with former President Obama.

…and its always a pleasure to hear "a Presidential speaker"

"Platinum Presence of Mature Minded Intelligence and Class"

  3. Obama is not a progressive. He campaigned as one when he was running for office. But he later went on to trun his back on progressives and did everything the donor class and republicans wanted. He really has no leg to stand on here. Obama is no ally to progressives and those on the left.

  4. I hope Henry Cuellar gets ousted from the House. South Texas is a waste of Democrat voters when our politicians are Blue Dog Dems. Steny Hoyer is also getting primaried. We need to focus on getting progressives in Congress.

  5. Beware of the liberal chameleon. One trait of the many sociopathic traits displayed by ideological liberals is their smooth appropriation of left/progressive language and talking like they are on the same team as people who recognize that neoliberal ideology is broken and cannot be reformed. The right already conflates figures as diverse as like Hilary Clinton, Jeremy Corbyn, Josef Stalin and Karl Marx and acts like they are all batting for the same team and there is a lot of confusion generally about what difference there is between liberal and left and where one and and the other begins. In part this is due to "liberal" and "left" referring less to economic issues and more to social issues after most nominally social democratic parties embraced a capitalism to the right of Reagan and Thatcher but retained the language of social democracy.

Persuasive bullshitters like Obama encourage the conflation of left and liberal because they want to infiltrate, divide and destroy the left. It is worth remembering that "radical leftist" Bernie Sanders is still far to the right economically of Canada's centrist Liberal Party and even further to the right of the much vaunted Scandinavian social democratic parties (and all of these countries have moved significantly to the right in the last two decades).

Many on the left can be pretty gullible and naive about the nefarious ways of their opponents. Most sociopaths and psychopaths do not look like or outwardly act like cold, calculating self-interest machines. An extreme example, when serial killer Ted Bundy's crimes were revealed many of the women he'd duped could not believe the "nice guy" they thought they knew was in fact a depraved maniac who took immense pleasure in committing unspeakably horrific acts.

  6. TRN blows it again. Compare this tame, aimless crap with Jimmy Dore's appraisal of the same Obama appearance. Dore is much more to the point, sharper, bolder and funny (not funnier). And Dore didn't feel need to have a black guy on to cover himself for critiquing Obama. A black guy who can't pronounce "corporate". A host who can't pronounce "Wall Street". No wonder TJDS is heading towards double the subscribers of TRN.

  7. I, among many, wonder just what was said to Bernie by Obama and Joe Biden in their private meeting during the 2016 election. Bernie came out of that meeting with a defeated look that (just before he endorsed Hillary) I found very disturbing.

  8. According to Obama himself, he should be called a "Moderate Republican", so no, he doesn't speak for Progressives!

  9. In theory Obama is OK but in Practise when he has power it never works out that way.
He had his chance as President but never had the strength or true Commitment to turn the USA in a new direction.
He very much reminds me of Rudd as Prime Minister of Australia. He had all the ideas but when it came down to Practise he achieved nothing. It gradually became obvious he was at heart a very Conservative Right Wing person at heart.
A Dictator in most ways. He had good Progressives in his Cabinet but would not use them.
Since being kicked out as Prime Minister he has shown his true Colours.
He now ofen talks very much to the Right. Was always there deep down in Rudd. He just pretended to be Progressive about change.
There is very little debate in Australia at a Domestic Level in Australis about Domestic Issues that would be called Socialist in the USA.
Both Parties in Australia are both basically Capitalist that believe in what the USA would call Socialist Welfare. We don't look on it that way. We look at it as programs to ensure every Child in Australia has the opportunity to be achieve there full potential. They all agree on those Principles.
The big difference is the Liberal/Nationals in the economic area strive to balance the Budget. Minimise any Deficit and the Debt. The Labour Party is the opposite. They always want to use borrowed money to increase Social Welfare.
That has not always been the Case. It was a Labour Prime Minister and his very strong Treasurer who took the first very strong stand against a Protectionist Australia years ago. Brought in tough medicine. High Interest Rates that forced our Balance of Trade to come back into Balance. Forced Industry here to either compete or go out of Business. There would be no Corporate Welfare or Tariffs to keep them Going.
The Labels are more or less useless today.
About only two labels have any meaning.
    The True old Conservative Right.
    The True old Left.
I like the word Liberal. Liberals are truly Pragmatic People.
They have Economic Sense combined with a Social Conscience.

Trump has no Economic Sense or Social Conscience and is sill an Imperialist on the National stage.
Obama had Economic Sense and a Social Conscience in the USA but was not strong enough to beat the Corporates and implement Social Reforms needed. On Foreign Relations he was still an Imperialist.
Hillary. Completely false in all ways. What she said and what she did were the opposite.
Bush! Imperialist overall and Corporate Capitalist and all about Corporate Welfare.
Some very good people new stepping up in the USA. A brake in all ways from the past in the USA. Will Corporate Media support them and if they made President would they ever get the support they would need.
    Not likely!

  10. Obama has a weird and annoying smugness about him.

He thinks he's especially smart even though he has never shown all that much intelligence on most subjects just good speech writers back in his political day.

He also seems to think he is well loved. He might or might not be, but being well loved doesn't mean that you are special or that you're all knowledgable.
