  1. Some ideas are so F'n stupid, only an intellectual will believe them. Yes I am sure they raise wages. That's why teachers have a union, nurses have unions, doctors have unions, cops have unions, bus drivers are in unions, plumbers, and others have trades associations.

    Horse hockey!

  2. Machine automation in combination with next-generation drones, robotics and artificial intelligence will end the need for immigration and cheap immigrant labor.

  3. Immigrant labor is always used as a threat (spoken or unspoken) by employers of low wage workers. It's a tool to maintain discipline. It, at the very least, leads to stagnating wages. There's a fundamental capitalist contradiction here that can never be solved within the frame work of capitalism and it's states. Liberals, social democrats and the right-wing are all wrong about this issue.

  4. When you listen to Black media weather be social media radio or print the Statics they come up with are diametrically opposed to what was espoused by this guest today. Especially when you start looking at housing and other issues that the poor and the Working Poor have to contend with in their daily lives. People like Coretta Scott King and other thinkers in the Black community have a totally different View. This is why Trump wad focusing on the black community and as a side note the Hispanic community he is tapping into their concerns. Many may say it's a Canard that he was pushing, but he is able to tap into an understanding that it seems liberals and progressives don't get. Unfortunately this is why he is going to be our next president after 2020 unless we get a deeper understanding of opposing views that others have. Instead of just dismissing them that they are wrong.

  5. Why United State can go to other countries with their military and destroyed the countries but other people cannot go to United States of America for work.

  6. Nancy pelosi has allowed so many Spanish speaking into her jurisdiction, that she does not care about the English speaking; so we will have to build a wall or barrier to separate the people who want to speak English from the people who want to speak Spanish. Once we build the wall, we will never have to listen to Spanish speaking again, and then we can sleep at night in an English speaking country. It's that simple, do you want to listen to Spanish, or do you want to listen to English. If I want to listen to Spanish, I'll go to Spain or Mexico. If I want to listen to English, I'll stay here in the u.s.a., and build a barrier to keep the u.s. speaking English! It makes sense to speak English here. Don't sell us out! English speaking, build us a barrier wall. And preserve our English way of life.

  7. They speak English on TV here, everybody who comes over our borders speaks some other languages, the people who live here don't want to hear other languages. It's an audible assault. Build us a wall, keep the country in English language and English practices. It's that simple, don't upset the people who live here. Just blend in and keep quiet.

  8. So, the people who exploit undocumented immigrants by paying them slave wages can use their free time to acquire higher skills. Sounds awefully likeable… and progressive

  9. No mr,you are compiting with Chinese hard labor, stop your inaccurate information, smarter and hard work, poor country are this people

  10. I want what this women is smoking – she is delusional, typical academic with little life experience in corporate America. Paul Jay makes sense as always.
I think Illegals should be hired as secret service agents & other low skill jobs where all you need to know is how to fire a gun. According to Trump ALL of them can do this.

  11. I just found out that yellow vest protestors wear those vests because the French government forces anyone with a car to have one of those vests in the car at all times. WTF if that is not UN Democratic I don’t know what is. Who gave government such far reaching powers. It should be government for the people by the people. They should not be infringing on our rights and God given freedoms. It’s time for a global revolution against big government. Bring back regional representation and basic freedoms. EBG- end big government.

  12. If I follow this discussion correctly, Susan is talking about skills while Jay is speaking of wage increases for unskilled workers. People in the unskilled work group work jobs in the lowest end of the wage scale because they are trapped there by many factors. These factors include the very competition for these low paying jobs. Susan seemed a bit myopic when asked about the low wage level jobs being an attraction for "citizen" workers. Some people don't have the choice she seems to think is so easily available.

  13. That's not true about black folks are working at the low wage scale as well as Hispanics. Trump doesn't give a shit about black people or Hispanics. Everyone in my family that work make way above minimum wage. And there are more African American women that have college degrees so what he's saying is not true

  14. She's making sense only if she's talking about legalizing the ones who are already there, while doing a better job at stopping illegal immigration.
Now if she's saying that anyone should be able to come illegally, work legally, and that's going to raise wages…

  15. Actually, while I am not against immigrants at all, I think it's a little 'ivory tower' of her to say "Why would anyone want those jobs?" (meaning housecleaner or nanny).

I have known several American born women who sought out those occupations. They enjoyed the freedom to be their own boss, and were often creatives who needed a solitary, physical job that exhausted their bodies, but not their minds – since creative work is largely unsupported in the US. The biggest problem for them was immigrants working for a third of the going rate.

I have also known painters and landscapers who were in constant competition with immigrants willing to work for peanuts. Some people like those kinds of jobs, and would happily build a lifelong business doing that – not "move up".

Migrant farm work might get fewer takers, but if it paid well, young people would certainly do it. Industrial chicken plucker is a truly horrible job that seriously no one should have to do.

  16. This is all political theater. Trump calls a government shutdown and blames democrats. Then he goes on TV to garner black/democratic support by saying the immigration crisis disproportionately affects African and Hispanic Americans by driving down jobs and wages. Yes, this is yet another in a long list of issues facing Black Americans but it certainly will not be resolved by his wall request. The bigger picture here is Trump's use of the media. He is masterfully using his beloved "media loves fake news" assertion to distract the country from the fact that Bolton has reneged on Trump's decision to pull the troops out of Syria.

  17. Save millions of young Americans lives by stopping the heroin and drugs.
Save millions on the costs of medical, crime and prisons. One inmate costs over 33,000 a yr without medical.
One heart attack costs 250,000 or more. Take care of our own and if anything left then bring in others.
Don’t donate if u can’t pay ur own bills

  18. It’s true and the day laborers aren’t osha certified. Contractors take advantage of them. It actually hurts our unions and regulatory agencies. Our agricultural sector of the economic even has become completely dependent on them. People call us a nation of immigrants but you gotta ask who benefits from it. It was “free enterprise” that benefited from the waves of immigrants from Europe. They wouldn’t hire locals and brought in people from overseas and exploited them as expendable animals through manufacturing. People would say this built our country but it actually set the stage for tyrannical multi-national corporations to dominate our planet.

  19. We need to secure our borders and reform our immigration law. Illegal immigration undermines our labor law. Trump is absolutely right about this. Also, illegal immigration is not a pathway to citizenship, in fact it prevents it. It leaves the illegal immigrants very vulnerable. Unfortunately, the Democrats address neither issue just like health care crisis and low minimum wage.

  20. Immigrant workers have always been in America no matter what wages have been. What has lowered American pay was outsourcing jobs and union busting.

  21. Trumps claim was Bullshit and conveniently overlooked the fact that its US businesses (free market fan boys) that LURE Mexicans and foreigners to the US because they don’t want to pay Americans. Once again Trump found a way to take the focus off US policies as the cause and blame people looking for a damn job. C’ome on bruh.

  22. bahahahaha Great parody piece to watch here. Keep to the fact of the matter. Do you agree that people who enter another country not using the legal ports of entry are illegal, aka criminal? I am in Canada, if I try to enter the U.S. illegally I will be detained and deported, It really is that simple. You are discussing this on the false assumption that all these illegal immigrants are working, that they are doing legal work opposed to sucking off the taxpayers' teet.

  23. You people care more about non-citizens than our own citizens.

We want immigrants based on their merits not people who are unqualified to work or live here and sponge off the taxpayers.
