Filming the police is legal, but that doesn’t stop them from arresting people for it – Everything Law and Order Blog

Another Ohio resident has been arrested under the dubious charge of “misconduct during an emergency,” which has been used again by Ohio police to incarcerate another person who filmed them in action.

The arrest raises vexing questions about an obscure Ohio law that gives law enforcement almost unfettered power to detain and charge bystanders. PAR investigates how this statute may have been abused during a tense standoff, and the implications for citizen journalists who seek to record police. Please join journalists Taya Graham and Stephen Janis for this important episode of the Police Accountability Report!

  1. Firing and jailing cops who intentionally try to deprive citizens of their civil rights should be the standard, not the rare exception.

  2. not about one man it many in country! and no atterny care to rebuttal it or care about client! I kid you not!!

  3. That LW is intended for people flipping out when their people are breaking the law. It is NOT intended to be used against people for free speech smh lol they are just butthurt the whole police force in America. All of em know there are now people holding em accountable and when word spreads it’s spread under the impression that anyone with a camera is antagonizing instead of it being explained that it’s totally legal and they should just do their jobs like normal. Idk I see no use for em anymore at this point. I wouldn’t feel bad if they were defied at every turn and all just quit or was fired. A lot of things actually wouldn’t bother me. They’re likely not very good people down inside if they can stand and watch this crap even let alone play an actual role…

  4. These are Nazi domestic terrorist brought here by the United States government after World War II they have infiltrated all of our government local state and federal police agencies and they use Nazi tactics on American citizens because they make the laws and then terrorize us with them they should be put to death immediately to save the Americans that are still breathing

  5. The police think they're beating their crimes and getting away with murder but these videos are getting out there and people who, 2 years ago totally supported the police, are now coming to conclusion that the police are more like armed animals than protectors. Once the attitude of American citizens shift from seeing police as positive protectors and start seeing them as an armed occupying Force the treatment of police will change greatly. I hope the police change their ways and start protecting citizens and following the law and the Constitution because that is the world I want to live in

  6. Time for a civil war against tyrannical thugs. Police brutality & corruption in the justice system including judges and prosecutors,

  7. That is why when I saw what happened in Dallas to those cops I laughed my ass off I actually loved what I saw I watched a video where a guy shot a cop in Arizona along the interstate and again I felt good I don't care if that top was a good guy or not just by simply doing the job and the way they do it these days they deserve what they get

  8. Yeah we need to go back to help our citacins that are.unjustly uses there greedy fines to strip the public from there things and freedom it's corupt polatishions that's helping these laws go thru to keep the from getting enywhere

  9. Police are so used to getting away with abusing citizens and now they have to do everything in their power to stop us from recording and reporting their lawlessness
