Multiple pro-union Amazon workers have been fired recently in suspected acts of retaliation and union busting from the company. Albert Elliot, a former Amazon employee and organizer with the rank-and-file group Carolina Amazonians United for Solidarity and Empowerment (CAUSE), speaks with Real News editor-in-chief Maximillian Alvarez about his termination and the inhumane working conditions at Amazon’s facilities.

  7. I know some people who busted up a good union. In the unions place the Corruption slowly seeped in and the pay and the freedom we had were now gone. We had no rights. Now I see that the new employees pay the Boss to keep working for. Cash bribes replaced the Union. Alot is going on there even right now. Stealing, all sorts of stuff. This has been going for a long-term time. There's a whole lot of Apathy in our country, people are too selfish these days. They'll 9nly do something for a woman only if they get something in return.

  8. Wow, you go to work at a place and decide you don't like certain aspects of the job and so you seek out help in changing the job. Why not just quit and go elsewhere? If I had a business and the employees voted to be union I'd lock the doors, go out of business and sell the business for $1 to my wife, change the name and hire new people but not that had worked for me in the past.

  9. Just remember, no corporation is your family no matter what they say to you. They will do what’s best for their bottom line before they look out for you. You are a cost and revenue producer. That’s it, end of story. They will get rid of you as soon as it’s not profitable to have you around. Once you understand this and internalize it, you will stop being fooled by corporations.

Amazon simply ignored my many job apps and finally I decided to boycott all their products completely, but the general harassment on me by the $$$ystem continues unabated and has actually increased. I am completely barred from the workforce, cant get hired anywhere and after 18 years of quiet exemplary living I cant get on a jury either. If the stores want to hire me the job disappears anyway. I cant ever post any ad on Craigslist, for work, friendship or anything. Nothing materializes when I respond to existing ads. Nobody would believe this if it weren't happening to them. Also Albert is a HERO and a brilliant spokesman for all the oppressed in America. Our new "All People's Power and Justice NOW" political party is waiting for him to lead ;=) Beautiful gentle man, VERY INSPIRING!!!!! We WILL OVERCOME.   12. This is what corporations do to prevent workers from forming unions by firing them. This happened to Chris Smalls forcing him to be a union organizer to prevent this exploitation of workers.

  14. I have asked this question when you were on another show: why aren’t any unions defending the rights of their members to refuse experimental gene therapies for colds? Are union leaders getting ‘funding’ from companies like Pfizer and Moderna ( or through there surrogates like NIH, the FDA, or the CDC to participate in ‘studies’ like the hospital networks)?

    Force your elected members to get the same pay as you do see how long they last.

The United States of America is adding massively to its slave labour count under its capitalist system and its citizens are largely unaware of that because of the massive success of its propaganda machines. Blaming other countries for its inherent dysfunctional system has been it way forward.

  18. I strongly support unionization, forced wage hikes, and stricter, more draconian government regulations.
    For the sole reason it'll finally break the backs of corporations to where they'll get off their lazy collective butts and hyper-automate the workplace.

  19. Same bullshit in the United Kingdom, zero hour contract, agency work, they pay the agency £40 per hour, agency pays the worker £10 an hour.

Medicare Advantage is the insurance companies backdoor into COMPLETELY PRIVATING MEDICARE with 50% of enrollees now falling for the scam – we must stop that % from rising. If big insurance succeeds your generation will NEVER be free of big insurance and we must educate elders NOW – right now (OPEN ENROLLMENT IS NOW.)

  21. What labor laws are/were being broken ? I hear a bunch of complaints but nothing in regards to actual labor laws. Amazon sucks for sure . Yet , if you don't want to drive an hour to work , don't apply to a job , that requires you to drive an hour . If $15 an hour isn't enough pay . Find a higher paying job . Also , " random drug testing " is part of ALL current work contracts in the USA . Where there is heavy lifting or machinery , on site . I don't want to be working with a crane driver : who's under the influence of percs or pot . Prescription or no prescription. This sounds like whining . Nothing about important labor laws being overlooked or disregarded . Honestly , its a warehouse job . Mindless , physical , labor , that's it . If you want a cushy job . Don't work in a warehouse. I grew up on a farm . Working at Amazon was a cake walk . Amazon , got me through the 2 year shutdown . Lots of lazy people , working at Amazon . It's a numbers game . He was correct about the managers , though . Young , stupid , and faces glued to the computer . Amazon shouldn't be anyone's long-term career choice .
