Frente Polisario explains the Western Sahara struggle w/Amb. Sidi Omar – Everything Law and Order Blog

The national liberation struggle of the Sahrawi people of Western Sahara has been ongoing for 50 years. Through the twists and turns of history, the people of Western Sahara have faced Spanish colonialism, the occupation of their territory by Mauritania and Morocco, and expulsion from their territory to refugee camps in Algeria. Despite this long struggle, Western Sahara’s history and politics remain relatively unknown to many outsiders. Bill Fletcher Jr., a member of the TRNN Executive Board, speaks with Sidi Omar, the UN Ambassador of Frente Poliario, the political organization behind the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic.

  1. Western sahara have always been part of Morocco. Polisario created a fake country never existed. Just look at their flags it’s a copy of the Palestinian flag. If Western Sahara was a country before the spanish occupation what was their flag? The only flag in the region before the colonization was the Moroccan flag 🇲🇦🇲🇦🇲🇦🇲🇦🇲🇦

  8. It was spain that occupied the south of Morocco then the north and that is illegal.. certainly Morocco got the enemy out regained sovereignty but since france and spain used foreign soldiers from subsahara to have demographic change of the country they instituted separatist … the rest is cold war era etc …

  9. Saluti!

  10. Moroccan Sahara is under the full sovereignty of Morocco. The corrupt Algerian military junta created the Polisario militia to gain access to the Atlantic Ocean. It is far easier to transport gas and other natural resources via the Atlantic. Cheaper. Rather than negotiating with Morocco, Algeria decided to create an illegal terrorist group and promise them an independent state. This will NEVER happen. The Algerian military government had been plundering the resources of the Algerian people since Independence. Compared to other OPEC countries, Algeria is at the bottom of the list. It is a rich country in gas and petrol but mismanagement and nepotism kept the Algerian people poor. Why does Qatar or Koweit have better living standards than Algeria? Corruption and despotism. Long live Morocco 🇲🇦 🇲🇦 🇲🇦

  11. This is obviously a one sided narrative, you should have invited the other Sahrawis who consider themselves Moroccans just like their ancestors before the Spanish and the French divided the region.
Shame on you not to mention that the Moroccan Liberation Army which was not affiliated with the Moroccan government forces fought several battles to kick out the Spanish colonial forces in the Sahara but in 1958 after the French Army joined the Spanish army, the two were able to defeat the Moroccan Liberation Army in what's known as "Operation Ecouvillon'' (just like few decades earlier when the French army intervened to help a defeated Spanish army in the North of Morocco in the Rif mountains). After this latest joint operation, Spain returned parts of the Sahara that was under its control, first in 1958, the region of Tarfaya and in 1969, the region of Ifni. So it was expected that Spain was going to withdraw from the rest of the Sahara in 1975. Now back then, there was the cold war and Morocco was seen as pro west unlike Algeria and Libya, who were pro Soviet Union/the communist bloc, and provided military, financial, logistical and diplomatic support to Polisario. The Soviet Union sent their best weapons such as anti aircraft SAM missiles which Gaddafi happily paid for. They brought Cuban, Vietnamese and other experts in guerrilla warfare..
On the other hand, the western Sahara was always part of Morocco as the International Court of Justice in the Hague stated in its 1975 Opinion that the tribes of western Sahara had allegiance to the king of Morocco (just like other tribes and regions of Morocco). So your report would have been credible if you have invited other Sahrawis living in the western Sahara today and enjoying peace and prosperity. All remaining Sahrawis are welcome to return back home if they were allowed to leave the prison camps in Algeria. So please stop warehousing ''refugees''… Algeria should allow them to return back home… And the International community should pressure Algeria to do a census of the true number of the remaining Sahrawis, open the borders for their return to their homeland which needs to be done in a safe and dignified way.

  12. The Sahara is a region in Morocco,
It is the most safe and quiet place in the whole North-west Africa,
It is also known for surfing and strong wind, unlike Algeria where women can not walk at night or go to the beach, in the Sahara women are free and and safe.

The native people of this region in morocco are the Berber (Amazigh) people.

The Arab right wing extremist militia (polisario), they are free to move to Europe and create their imaginary Arab ethnic country and name it "Northern Taiga" or "Southern Arctic" or "Western Scandinavia" or "Eastern Alps".

  13. Never knew about these peoples, and their struggles to regain their ancestral lands and to shine a light on Morocco's villany, with the French/U.S. compliancy
