The drones can be used for defense and foreign intervention missions, they are not necessarily offensive weapons. All other nations have them, Germany falls back in the arms race if they don t have armed drones. Germany will not use the drones in the way the USA does.

It's interesting that the gentleman at the beginning of the video identifies the cause for developing independent security assets…is that the United States is not trustworthy. Europeans increasingly do not want US presence and, therefore, need a wider array of their own security and defense assets.
