The recent in-custody police death of Anton Black and inadequate civilian oversight in Baltimore reveal how the underlying imperative of policing in the U.S. is not public safety, but instead heightening the rampant inequality that continues to plague urban America

  1. This report is a lie from beginning to end. There are other videos online that provide a much more objective account of what occurred. Very dangerous and destructive reporting here.

  2. The right wing AM talkers are always claiming that statistics show no difference in white vs. black "death by cop". I haven't found any comprehensive treatment of this issue indicating what is and is not known, and why. Does such information exist? Where? If not, could someone prepare a video that settles this issue, so that the "national conversation" can reflect the truth?

  3. A policeman's first obligation is to be responsible to the needs of the community he serves…The problem is that the atmosphere does not yet exist in which an honest police officer can act without fear of ridicule or reprisal from fellow officers. We create an atmosphere in which the honest officer fears the dishonest officer, and not the other way around.

  4. Escalation, retaliation, lie, entrap, harass, cover up, plant evidence, murder, rape murder abuse and traffic children, blue wall of silence, extort, intimidate, violate, manipulate, fabricate, incarcerate. That's how some police "protect and serve" in "this day and age". Amen

  5. This is SO scary, sad, bewildering and even exhausting, if police lives would start to truly be endangered it'd be no surprise cause as a civilian one would take a mindset of I'd have a chance if I could get away but if I can't get away then its them or me.
This and stories to this ilk are damning because protect and serve seems to be the furthest thing from action, practice or policy when most of these officers answer roll call at the beginnig of the work shift.

  6. There are huge similarities between United States foreign policies and domestic policing in America, which is in the psyche of persons in a position of authority or power. Greater consideration should be invoked when candidates are seeking positions in public administration, certain psychological testing should be mandatory both for public office in government and domestic policing in everyone’s interest for a civil society to exist

  7. Why do you think aggressive bullying cop crimes are limited to black people? I think your trying to increase racial divisiveness?

  8. Police are the meanest most heavily armed gang of thugs and we're all on their turf. And this is exactly how a fascist society functions.

  9. Horrible incident in Glendale where man was tased 11 times in front of his children in Jul of 2017. He was arrested for assault and spent months in jail. After viewing the video, the prosecutor dropped all charges against the man. The officer was suspended for three days, but not fired. The man has filed a federal lawsuit. It's going to be expensive for Glendale methinks.

  10. The first case, When the cops stopped him he told the cops the kid was his bother, the kid started screaming "he is not my brother, that not my brother bro" and took off away from the cops, then Anton Black ran. This insanity that the cops had no reason to believe he wasnt a kidnapper with the worst of intentions is bullshit. Choke moves should be illegal by the police department, that much i think everyone can agree on. If a cop chokes someone to death, that cop should fired and charge in almost every situation.

  11. While the target of this aggressive policing was black, the police are supposed to be serving all of us. If they will murder black people so easily, they will murder anyone just as easily.

  12. American cops are taught to look on everyone as a criminal. No other country in the western world has cops that manhandle them like American cops they think their in the wild west it's the way their trained just look at how many appear out of nowhere at any little incident it is the way their trained make someone lie down make someone put their hands in the air stop resisting arrest etc etc all violent reaction to ordinary people yeah American cops worse in the world and America is not a democracy wake up America

  13. This isn't a race issue, this is a top down problem. The scumbags giving these attack dogs their marching orders would be doing the same in any community. You need to go higher than the cops to the commissioner and get his ass in jail. Also the judges legislators senators mayor governor, the fish rots from the head down. And the police are just doing what they're ordered and you see that's true when none of these police face any consequences because they are doing what their masters want.

  14. Police are not going to stop doing their job. The change will come from the black community or these things will continue to happen. All one has to do is not resist..not run..just comply and let these interactions play out. That simply change would cut down on 90% of these issues.

  15. I was a heroin addict for many years. I got pulled over leaving the dope spot. I couldn't get any dope so all I had was one syringe in y pocket. The two cops pulled me out of my car and searched me and tore apart my car. After not finding any dope they began questioning me in the most abusive derogatory way. They wanted me to tattle on my dealer. When I said "no sir" the bigger cop punched me in the stomach and swept me off my feet slamming me on the ground. I was dreadfully thin at the time from my dope habit and I didn't try to resist. The big cop placed his knee in my neck and ground my face into the gravel on the side of the road and yanked my arm back dislocating my elbow. They hit me a few times while I was cuffed and took me to jail charged with paraphernalia. This happens to addicts a lot. I will never trust a cop and I will never feel safe when a cop is present. This situation really scared me.

  16. Institutionalized racism. What more can you say? Forfeiture is called theft. I have a great idea, outlaw all police departments in America, that will stop over 70% of crime. After living outside of the US for years I was always struck by the Police State aspect of life in America.

  17. Outstanding work, Thank You! Baltimore and Ottawa, Canada and the Ottawa Police Services! When will the Copsters, the Cop-Assaultists be made to PAY FOR and Take Responsibility for their Evil actions? Moral Cowardice and the Rule of Intimidation, Threat, Profiling, and LYING, LYING and more LYING! Why are the police always Above the Law? Tax-payer-subsidized-murder-and-maiming-and-broken bodies-and-lives. Shameful. Shameful. Shameful!

  18. Excellent discussion! Cops are poorly trained within a Blue Wall. This makes them paranoid and see themselves separate from the community.
Odd how that in a combat zone, soldiers are in general more controlled when policing civilians and the use of deadly force in Iraq.

  19. It is hard not to run from these thug-cops when you know they have carte-blanche to do what the fuck they want to you. Even when you obey them, there is a very real chance that you will wind up dead, tortured or maimed.

Just look at the video of the guy being told to get on the ground; he is getting down oh his knees, front of two cops with guns drawn, and while doing so he gets get in the head, and collapses. That is a serious blow to the body. NOT A JOKE.

  20. The police are clearly wrong, but you don’t run from police. That’s where everything went wrong.

  21. At even the slightest notion of resistance or defiance, these thugs become enraged. They go into hyper-violence mode. Only the violent minded even want that job and we are the targets of their rage. The Patriot Act empowered them.

  22. In the 1970's it was Public Television that did this type of investigative reporting, now it is an independent station. Thank (insert deity) that the internet exists, and channels still exist on it!

  23. Most police are not mentally or emotionally equipped to take care of themselves let alone theoretically protect and serve. Police today are simply revenue collectors and primarily racists full of hate of themselves.
