  1. One would think the RNN would contract an actual studio in London, Paris, Rome, etc. What horrid resolution! And the earphones? What is this? Facebook live or a growing, reputable liberal news network? <3 the Bernie comment. Solid commentary from Mr. Williamson

  2. This is eye-opening. I thought that since the Brexit campaign won based on lies, bigotry, ignorance, and low turnout, it must have been at its core a bad idea. Now I'm thinking maybe it was pushed for all bad reasons, but if progressives can take over, it could be very good for average Brits. Unless Brussels decides to punish Brits for not playing the game.

  3. To summarize this interview, Brexit isn't the biggest problem for Britain but Austerity measures that have destroyed the working and middle class of Britain.

  4. What about the backstop . No 🇺🇸 trade agreement unless it’s retained . The British trading figures are not what they appear ,a lot of metal movements are just in and out , which just boosts the figures .Also it’s their financial areas that are booming and that will move elsewhere. Britain is heading down the road of being a tax haven and nothing else of meaning . What about the possibility of Scotland breaking away

  5. Chris is one of the best MPs it is a disgrace what the MSM hacks and the corrupt establishment Labour MPs have done to him. The only way to defeat BoJo is by talking class politics and fulfilling on Brexit. Corbyn should talk about Labours traditional opposition to the Neoliberal EU and talk about bog policies. I would also advise Corbyn to dump EU fanatics in the Shadow Cabinet e.g Thornberry and Blair Starmer.

  6. LOL …. the Fake News made the mistake of getting an honest progressive on their show …. and of course he does not agree with their talking points

  7. I used to think English people were clever, but by electing Boris Johnson , they have shown to all of us , they are dumb and stupid as everyone else .. They elected another Trump …

  8. It will be a hard brexit. The European Parliament are on holiday and they won't be back until mid September. One month to swing a deal?

  9. Chris Williamson wants a Left-oriented Brexit, because the EU is rotting with Neo-Liberalism. But the only way to remedy that is to remain within the EU and as a member of the system, work to reform it. Outside of the EU system, the UK will have limited influence. Regardless, the Neo-Liberal system will fail. The City of London, the Bank of England, all of it will fail. Just as the German Banking system is faltering… Just as the US system is going to implode. The rigged Neo-Liberal systems of the money boys are going to collapse under their own rotten weight. Planetwide. You can listen to Nationalistic self-determination crap from Boris Trump or Farage, it won't matter. It's going to fail. People are getting wise. The collapse is coming.

  10. Chris Williamson is a very astute politician. He is correct in saying that Johnson is a neoliberal, surrounded by a Tory party steeped in neoliberalism. It doesn't matter which Tory is in 10 Downing Street, it will always be a neoliberal. Neoliberalism has brought the world to the edge of the abyss. If this ideology is allowed to continue the economies around the world will eventually crash and the resulting chaos will inevitably lead to a global war, the horror of which is unimaginable. Neoliberal economics has led to low pay, zero hours contracts, reduced protection for workers by shackling the trade unions, while the rich get richer thanks to a generous neoliberal tax regimen. When the banks crashed, due to reckless and in some cases criminal practice, who picked up the tab for the loss? Ordinary workers did, not the rich, not the well off, not the elite, not the few! As Chris said, the EU is a neoliberal club, the British people have spoken and Britain should now leave the EU. However, if Britain could not thrive while part of to a neoliberal trading bloc, it can't and won't thrive outside of that bloc while governed by a neoliberal government, as we will soon find out. Britain has a golden opportunity to become great again but only if it elects a socialist government led by Jeremy Corbyn; one that is not shackled to or stained by neoliberal ideology.

  11. It seems like the minority always elects the leader, and it makes no sense

Trump lost be 3 million votes, then Johnson is elected by a minority. Fucking bonkers

  12. They are not saying that at all Trump. They are saying now we have our own clown with bad hair. He wasn't picked by the people.

  13. Boris can crush Corbyn. Labour must join forces all anti Brexit parties such as the Greens and Lib Dem. Labour lost the prior two elections , Corbyn could not defeat an incompetent Maybot.

  14. Great interview – hope to see Mr. Williamson back soon. His perspective offers much to reflect on for progressives in the US as well as the UK.

  15. Chris Williamson is one of the best MP's we have today, the smears that he is in some way anti Semitic are ridiculous and came about because he was one of only a couple of MP's in the entire Parliament who is brave enough to ask the hard questions and demanding answers to things other shy away from..

  16. Thanks for this great interview! The longer people dither over Brexit the longer it takes to deal with actual issues people face.

  17. I don't really understand why American leftists find it so hard to understand why workers voted Leave. The simplest analogy is NAFTA, except with its own lawmaking powers and its own court to enforce them on member states in favour of businesses and against the interests of consumers, workers, communities and elected governments. The very concept of free trade is neoliberal ideology, as is creating a single market as an continent-wide free trade zone, globalization enforced by the EU. Chris Williamson is exactly right – Conservative governments impose austerity either way, except that once we're out of the EU, we will have the lawmaking and policy sovereignty returned to parliament with which to enact socialist reforms as soon as we get Corbyn into power. It seems very much like with American liberals being stampeded into supporting neo-con, neo-liberal war-criminal Hilary Clinton because Trump exists, the idea that the left in Britain should support the EU because racists are against it. That's irrelevant to what the EU is and does, and the merits of leaving in terms of ending the transfer of ever more legislative and policy authority from democratically elected parliaments and governments to entirely unelected EU commissioners and judges.

  18. Chris is correct. You can't get the Country to Vote & then ignore the result. What We need is a General Election. Thank You The Real News

  19. Both men in this video are fully aware that in UK as it is in USA, the greed driven upper-half of society hoards all the land, wealth and political power. And for the simple reason that the 50% working poor never vote, as they are of the slow of thought laboring-class and have no desire to control things. Which is why the U.S. Democrats and UK Labor, they are the slave drivers of society.

  20. Typical Labour MP. Claims to be for Remain – but isn't really. Same with Corbyn – he's been pro-Brexit all his career. Nothing has really changed.

This guy bangs on about 'democracy' but we have FPTP elections, which meant that the last Labour Gov't was elected with only 24% of the electorate's votes behind them – likewise Cameron only had 24% of the electorate behind him when he called for the Brexit referendum – and then only 37.44% of the electorate voted for Brexit. Britain doesn't actually have a real Democracy. FPTP only works in a 2 party state and there are 5 mainstream parties in England alone – and then there's Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. The next UK government could be elected with as few as 12-15% of the electorate's votes behind them (and they'll call it a "landslide").

And to suggest that it is 'democratic' to vote for something, which you don't even know the 'Terms' of, is simply misleading. It's like signing a legal contract which you don't know the 'Terms' of – which wouldn't even be legal in Contract Law, so why is it acceptable in a so-called 'Democracy'?

  21. Williamson seems to have his head screwed on right. Unfortunately his proposals have no chance of succeeding, precisely because Corbyn, for whatever reason, just came out firmly in favor of Remain. That's the end of Corbyn, and the Labour party. Time to form a new progressive party.
