From the moment Russian troops invaded Ukraine on Feb. 24, people in the West have been glued to their TV, computer, and phone screens, furiously consuming news about the war and posting their reactions online. As the war in Ukraine enters its second month, it’s become clearer than ever that our corporate and social media ecosystem has not given us the tools to critically navigate the incessant militaristic propaganda, nor has it provided many pathways for people to do anything besides watch and post. In this special panel, which was recorded in the TRNN studio on Wednesday, March 16, we have an open discussion about how Western media has failed to prepare us to respond productively to war, how independent media can and must be used to better inform and activate audiences, and how we at The Real News are succeeding or failing to fulfill that mission in our coverage of the war in Ukraine.

Thank you guys! I finally hear some deeper thoughts about this war than "Nazis" and "excuses" for Putin in regards to the NATO expansion. These talking points are exploited so often that they become some sort of "manufacturing consent" on the US left what drives me crazy. Some US leftists hate US imperialism so much that they can't imagine that Russia and also China are playing on the same field to achieve the same goals. One well known online left figure said "Putin is a centrist" to counter the statement "Putin is worse than Hitler". Both is ridicules wrong. I'm a socialist from Germany, growing up in the East of Germany (GdR), and I know Russian propaganda and its history. That Putin turned fascist is a fact and that Russia like the Ukraine has problems with Neonazis, with different meanings, is also a fact. Putin was bringing the dead right-wing/fascist writer Ilyin back to Russia and gave out a book,written by Ilyin, to all high rank political figures in Russia. That's Putins philosophy and dream of a Russia supported by orthodox "values".

Wow.. the level or rather the lack of information and knowledge in case of one of your guests, Mr. Fletcher JR. was terrifying. Not only the lack of general history of the region but also the lack of daily information about what actually happened in Ukraine in and since 2014. I wonder how could anyone ignore the fact about NATO's existence and activities in Ukraine with their soldiers, military bases, weapons and equipments, and all the military activities there. Who is not informed that UK/US and Canada's special forces (and many other NATO countries) have been there training Ukrainian army but also the neo-nazi Azov Battalion since the 2014 coup? I bet he probably even denies the US/Canada-backed coup in 2014. There are still numerous educational material and good documentsries like Ukraine on Fire, or Einsatzgruppen available on platforms like youtube or Netflix and others that one could attain and educate themselves. Look for Prof. John Mearsheimer, Stephen F. Cohen among others.
Soviet Union had nuclear weapons. Soviet Union placed them in various strategic locations around the country. Soviet Union developed and build those weapons. Russia legally became an heir to the Soviet Union. All those weapons were always controlled from Moscow, not Kiev. Ukraine, as an independent country never had nuclear weapons or means to maintain them, so it had nothing to give up, but to transfer back to Russia, a SU heir. Also, right wing and nazis don't just exist in Ukraine, they became a part of every governmental institution. They are minority in Ukraine, but they have a very strong influence on the government. Ukraine is the only country in the world that has active nazi element as part of its military force. Just like nazis had in 1930's Germany. United States took advantage of this influence, actively encouraging it till this days.
i came over to TRNN to gain a more informed outlook on the situation and was pleased to find that this channel is telling more parts of the story that MSM isn't saying. I understand that MSM is also more focused on getting the first views, clicks, and attention because theyre focused on profit more than truth-telling. These channels are not "news". When I think of "news" I think of facts not opinion. I dont seek out news to learn how to become an activist or a protester.. i want to understand as many facets of the situation as possible.

If they haven't pushed Russia against a corner and signed the Minsk agreement that was done, and if US gave a written promise that NATO want expand more east. Nazi Germany was useful to USA to fight communist Russia. It was hoped that Germany would defeat Russia. The US decided to still leave Nazis in the field after WW2 to combat Communism. NATO was formed for the same reason and also had Nazis in its ranks. Adolf Heusinger, who was planning operations during the German invasion of Russia eventually became head of operations in NATO. There is a history of Nazi ideology in NATO so there's nothing strange about it's close association with groups like Azov.

Nothing we see, hear, read is real, but an orchestration to get emotional reactions that favor the actions of government/military… even when those action include assassinating leaders of other nations and stealing those nations natural resources.
From its onset, the US has been the provacateur of this supposed attack. It was the US claiming the Russians were lining up tanks/arsenal/equipment along Ukraine's border and are going to attack. Both Putin and Zelensky exclaimed there was no military buiild up and no plans of attack. Zelensky even invited Biden to Ukraine to see for himself there was no military buildup or attack. Despite all, US media continued its propaganda, with the government assisting in the rhetoric/choreographing the storyline of an imminent attack.
Now we seen the obviously STAGED events with Zelensky whose an actor, jew, political Rothschild puppet, Liar, etc… He has aligned himself with the so called western nations in the propaganda game, which will allow central banks, big business, NATO etc to get rooted in Ukraine… just as was done in Afghanistan.
Now I am hearing people complain about Putin, but truth is Putin is keeping the Central banks, NATO, US Big Business etc from getting its claws into Ukraine and bringing weaponry in to aim at Russia.
How these people condemn Putin, but say NOTHING in regard to the US attacking Iraq, Iran, Oman, Yemen, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Egypt, Somalia, Sudan, Mali, Syria, Lebanon etc with all of these attacks/invasions into these INNOCENT forementioned nations in the last few years….
