On Sept. 7, 2021, after a majority of employees had formally expressed interest in unionizing, workers at G&D Integrated LLC—a transportation, logistics, warehousing, and supply chain services company in Central Illinois—marched on their boss together to demand recognition of the union. Their demands were not met. Then workers filed for a union election with the National Labor Relations Board and voted overwhelmingly in favor of unionizing with the Ironworkers Union in October. Almost immediately, workers at G&D Integrated reported retaliation from the company, including surveillance, interrogation, discrimination, and direct threats of termination for organizing activity. Then, on March 1, 2022, G&D laid off the vast majority of workers at the Morton, Illinois, facility in a suspected act of retaliation. In this interview, TRNN Editor-in-Chief Maximillian Alvarez speaks with John Hogsett, Vince Di Donato, and Ben Scroggins about the situation at G&D Integrated, what can be done about it, and why the Ironworkers believe this case clearly demonstrates the need for the National Labor Relations Board to revive what’s known as the “Joy Silk doctrine.â€
John Hogsett is an ironworker and one of the former G&D employees who was laid off in a suspected act of retaliation by the company after workers voted to unionize. Vince Di Donato is a District Representative for the Ironworkers International Organizing Department. Ben Scroggins is the Ironworkers District Council Organizer for Chicago and the surrounding vicinity.

Unionization will mean almost absolutely nothing.
As a matter of fact…Unionization should be strictly limited to non-automatable, non-overseas outsourceable, jobs and professions only.
Some companies do not understand the importance of maintaining a pleasant work environment. Both, production and quality suffer when morale is low.
Some companies believe you can increase the wage $1.50 an hour and attract talented laborers. They also may venture into social bonding outside of the facilities based on similar interests. However, you’re still returning to that dreaded place to earn money.
They overlook the fact that the work environment is the single most contributing factor to low morale.
“Bad Companies†all have common traits:
1. Low morale
2. Compromised quality
3. Unsafe work environments
4. Mechanically neglected equipment
5. Authoritarianism
When they want to target someone, they typically address; quality/workmanship, safety actions, PPE attire or output/production.

She was a veteran Al Jazeera journalist who risked her life on the regular for 30 YEARS in order to tell the world about the living hell Palestinians are and have been subjected to while under western-backed Israeli occupation.
YESTERDAY, MAY 11 2022, an ISRAELI sniper literally blew her face off while she and her colleagues reported on/recorded Israel's continued attacks/raids against Palestinians in the Jenin refugee camp!! An Israeli shot her in the face, LITERALLY! she had no face left and there's video of that (I can't watch that video) but there's also videos of a couple of young men trying to pull her to safety while Israelis continued shooting at him and shireen's colleague. One of her other colleagues was also shot but he's ok.
She was killed live on-air as she was speaking with the all Jazeera studio when her face was literally blown off! YOU COULD INTERVIEW Richard Medhurst! He has a very moving series of videos and he did watch the video of her being moved to an ambulance that showed her face gone. She received a STATE funeral in Palestine after the earlier funeral and burial.
More people need to know about her career, her stories and her merciless execution by the Israeli occupation forces! Please cover her story! PLEASE ðŸ™

I wish the laid off works all of the best! I'm being retaliated against by the state of New York, the City of New York, and the federal government because I'd accused them of fraud, so I very much know what these people are going through!
The problem is that any union will be infiltrated by the company to undermine the union… and most workers are too incompetent how evil corporations can be, how evil individuals can be, how law and structure work, and how the psychological games work.
