  1. There's no doubt there's a minority of racism in the Labour Party and it should be rejected. But there's far more racism in the British Conservative Party. We're talking about a party that used to be overtly anti-Mandela and pro SA apartheid. We're talking about Boris Johnson who outrageously called black people 'p*ccan*nies with watermelon smiles', who compared muslim women to bank robbers and post boxes, and who likened homosexuality to bestiality. Investigate baroness Warsi's complaints with Tory racism.

  2. This sounds like its bordering on the edge of fake news (is this really a problem in the Left, show it and source it) … Of course in a public discussion there is going to be any number of positions with all different level of understanding as to the justification to hold those views… the "left", but who decides who is left, and so now has to deal with a question, do you sensor them, if you do what is the criteria? is it explicit and open criteria? Obviously providing a platform for xenophobia as opposed to genuine discussion, is maybe clear, but part of the function of the open form is for people to express their understanding, and sometimes it does not start with all or the best of sources… i.e. a major source of pop understanding of reality not being as is narrated by establishment, was Zeitgeist internet documentary (which is what i felt like this piece was implying when it stated conspiracy theorist), not that any of what it claimed was false, but was it Anti Semitic? I would say no… Would the "left" sensor this type of content? I could see how some of its content could be re-woven to create an anti-Semitic narrative, so do you sensor this narratives? I say no, for one it would be a weak narrative, but foremost if there is no public discourse on the topic for people who hold weak narratives, you diminish the outlets by which their narratives either evolve or crumble… So I guess, what I am saying is its a slippery slope and we don't need a new vanguard, we need good genuine content to guide our discussion. Obviously this is the new hot topic, since the barrage of weak and false assaults on Ilhan Omar and Corbyn recently, but far from fearing this narrative we should exploit it (and i think it was), when barred naked it is weak and ridiculous… says something deep about the quality of tools that are being employed by establishment, namely that they are not of very high quality… The left would be out of line in an attempt to censor on behave of fear that establishment will run well funded campaign of false propaganda (bullshit is false and it is also weak) people should voice their understanding and work though it, to a better position if they start from a weak point.

  3. The point that is missing here is that the governing body of the Labour Party is the NEC and until last year was Chaired by a Blairite that worked against Corbyn – so the antisemitism issue was mishandled by Ian McNicols – this has dramatically changed since the election of Jennie Formby as Chair of the NEC.

  4. The apartheid apologists are the source of the false accusations of "anti–Semitism" in the Labour Party. There are more anti–Semities in the Conservative Party than in the Labour Party.

  5. Chris Bollyn. Get him on and argue his points about the huge Israeli involvement in 9/11. He has dozens of facts which prove it. You'd never have the guts.

  6. The real news won't talk about Chris Bollyn and his overwhelming evidence of Israeli involvement in 9/11. Get Bollyn on and argue his points if you have the guts. I bet you won't.

  7. The antisemitism slur is a total scam to derail the Labour Party from forming the next government. The tories are in total meltdown and are in danger of splitting.

  8. Lapavitsas and Jay seem unaware that at least two independent studies since 2017 have shown (a) that the level of anti-semitism in the UK is among the lowest in the Western world, (b) that the level of anti-semitism in the Labour Party is well below the national average, (c) that whatever level of anti-semitism did exist in the LP when Corbyn became leader has significantly dropped in the time since, (d) that the level of anti-semitism in the Tory Party is higher than the national average and (e) that anti-semitic beliefs and behaviours are much more prevalent among the Right. Instead, Lapavitsas and Jay wasted a lot of time nitpicking about the miniscule amount of anti-semitism that may or may not exist in the LP, while ignoring the obvious weaponisation of anti-semitism used by the Blairite PLP to smear, then destroy, Corbyn's leadership.

  9. Any entity the size of the labor party will have a few racists and otherwise undesirables. Hell, walk down the street and you'll find a few racists. There are hundreds of thousands of labor party members, and millions of supporters. Anti-Semites should be kicked out and appropriate action taken.

But this hardly explains the hysteria about the labor party specifically. It's obvious that most of the attacks on the party are intended to discredit the political direction it is taking, and couldn't care less about racism.

  10. The problem is capitalism, and an EU bent to the will of capitalism like every other bloody government is not the cause of the problem but a symptom of it. The only choice brexit gives us is whether to have capitalism at the current cost to administer, or whether to have capitalism that is slightly more expensive to administer. For the bottom 90%, little changes, if anything at all.

The banks will remain and get larger
The rich will remain and still get richer
The poor will remain and still get poorer
Austerity will remain never to end
A dozen tax havens protected by UK parliament, will remain
    Brexit or not.

Only by voting for a party willing to change the system itself, can the stupidity of brexit ever be of any use to workers.

  11. There is one big fault in saying "EU", "What does the EU think?"
EU is not an entity in itself it is a name of a union of 28 countries.
Instead of EU substitute it with "What does Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Republic of Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and the UK. think and what is their common agenda"
EU is in essence 40.000 civil servants that do the bidding of the member countries in questions of mutual interest.
Should also add free movement of capital within EU would not change since it is a single market.
BUT movement of capital between the EU and the rest of the world could be changed.

  12. The question is wrong…
The member states shape EU policy, UK have dragged EU in to neo liberalism but really outdone the EU in their domestic policies.
The balance in EU is fairly narrow, EU will swing left just by the UK leaving.
Out of this perspective with a Corbyn as UK PM and UK as a EU member, no problem and good for EU but fairly convinced UK is out an 2-8 weeks, so really not an issue.
As for the "Anti Semite" smears, watch "The Lobby" in the UK it was at least raised to a national discussion, although short and did result in Israeli embassy staff leaving and an apology from Israel.
Then I suspect it is back "business as usual"

  13. This nonsense is why great journalists are leaving TRNN, first it's a talk about "anti-semitism" instead of talk about jeremy corbyn's "socialism" next it's coverage is like something you'd hear on the lamestream media which people don't want to hear that's why they come to the internet. They got 200 channels of propaganda on TV if they want to hear the establishment's mischaracterization of facts on this issue.

  14. Are there really significant numbers of Labour voters that are into reptilian racism all-seeing-eye etc? I don't think so. The fact that there is genuine antisemitism in Comment Sections, is all the more reason to denounce the false antisemitism propaganda used against the Left; given that false antisemitism discounts, obscures and exploits actual antisemitism.

  15. Absolutely! I've been for a left Brexit all along for exactly the reasons stated by Costas. The EU is a technocracy. Costas is totally right that there should be a general election and not to vote again on Brexit before it or before Brexit is actually even tried. BTW, the left Brexit case was being made before the first vote. The only reason the Remainers have made gains recently is due to anti-left lies by omission (deliberately leaving out all the positives, all the potential of an EU-free Labour Party in government). Costas is quickly becoming one of my favorite commentators/analysts. Terrific mind!

  16. Lapavitsas correct on everything but Labour dealing with anti-semitism. In fact Corby deficiency in leadership was that he allowed overreaction and elimination of some of the top personalities on flase charges of anti-semitism. Like Chris Williamson and many other. Transnational Capitalist Class is using Israel, judaism, holocaust as tools to fight against social changes in favour of the peoples.

  17. The Rothchilds do rule the world, among others, among the Rockefellers, the Kochs etc. More than three quarters of the Project for a New American Century are Jews and Israeli with dual citizenship and there are relatively many Jews in the area of geopolitics. However, that is not due to their religion (most of them don't have one) but to their Zionism which is a colonialist ideology. I mean there may be still less real antisemitism in the Labour party than Lapavitsas thinks and the respective campaign against Corbyn is essentially a smear campaign,

  18. There is a conspiracy theory, that the UK establishment only allowed the referendum to go ahead because it would fuck up Corbyn's chances of reviving social democracy. Would fatally divide the Labour party at a time of radical resurgence.

If its true, it's worked brilliantly

Something like the crisis surrounding the Falklands, or the UK Miners' strike of the mid-80s, the establishment goes in for such diversionary tactics at times of political instability.

  19. There is no more antisemitism in the Labour party than there is in any party. There is however a strong critique of Israel amongst most leftwing voters. This is what has been used to smear the best man to run for the job of PM in decades and decades. Not only him, but they smear the entire Labour movement and everyone in it. We won't forget how they tried to destroy our reputations. We wont forget how very little they have to offer, how their stories about profit have run their course, tapped out and flaccid. We see the world around us and we know who got us here. The Tories and neoliberals have got to go, no matter what.

  20. All this BS talk about Socialism is just that, BS. Never existed, never will. And the Godless scumbag Carl Marx did NOT invent SOCIALISM, although he did move to London to study Protestant's ideologies and THEORIES.

    FYI;
Liberalism: 2b- a THEORY in economics emphasizing individual freedom from restraint based on free competition , the self regulating market and the gold standard.
    Webster's New Collegiate Dictionary 1967

  21. While I would not be naive enough to say there was no antisemitism within the Labour Party, I do believe that it is greatly overstated with regard to its extent.

In support of this view I would point to the documentary, "The Lobby" produced by Al Jazeera, which showed the activities Labour Friends of Israel and their strategy to undermine Corbyn, including disingenuous accusations of antisemitism. Furthermore, it is worth pointing out that a number of those who have been suspended/expelled from the party for supposed antisemitism are themselves Jewish. The creation of the pro-Corbyn group "Jewish Voice for Labour", would also suggest that antisemitism is not the issue that the anti Corbyn forces would have us believe.

It is no coincidence that those who shout antisemitism the loudest within the Labour Party are from the Blairite/neo-liberal wing of the party. These are the same people, whose entitled attitude, believed they could ignore Corbyn's democratic mandate from the party membership, which he secured twice in successive years. These are also the people that want to ignore the Brexit vote and are pushing for a second referendum.

The reality is, we are living in an Orwellian nightmare. Mainstream politics and media collude to engender cynicism and fear within the general populous, in order to enslave them. To this end we must guard against accusations against those who stand for justice and equality. At present, the USA is trying to bring down the democratic government of Venezuela, while, at the same time supporting the repressive regime of Saudi Arabia. Such a powerful, amoral world order would have little trouble trying to discredit a political party with lies and half-truths.

  22. The system in usa is for poor and middle class and even a little higher middle class so hard and dangerous to rise to a better life quality as alpinists trying to climb a steep and tall ridge. he heh

  23. The issue that this broadcast has not dealt with is the complete incompetence of the UK political class. Our parliament where the working class, the largest section is the least represented. Where the 1%, the Eton old boys are massively over represented and a GE will not correct that. Article 50 should never have been implemented until we had at least a draught plan of what brexit we wanted. I am also sick and tired of hearing about the 52% and acting like the 48% does not count for anything. They, the self serving incompetent politicians on ALL sides got us into this mess and it is they, ALL of them that should be held account for what at the very least will likely see the end of the UK.

  24. All of this has been obvious all along. It has never made any sense at all for Labour to oppose Brexit. That can only be because they're completely corrupted by the pursuit of political power as its own end. Gaining power they'll do some stuff to make life as hard as they can for people like Lapavitsas and Jay (CIS white straight males) and feel satisfied that they've achieved something for the left. Corbyn will be Justin Trudeau without the beautiful hair.

  25. Brilliant interview. I would like to add however, that in their rightful moves to expel anti-semitism from the Labour Party, party officials have taken action against those who have NO trace of anti-semitism at all. For example the MP Chris Williamson who is against all forms of racism and was targeted by those who dishonestly equate opposition to Israel's ethno-state with hatred of Jews in order to remove and divide the challenge to their own racist policies.

  26. Help support Corbyn for Prime Minister and Bernie for President! This “scary socialist commie” duo will completely expose and put the corrupt legacy of thatcher-reagan to shame!

  27. Fascinating. I’ve never considered that a left wing government might be held back by the EU. I’d like to hear more from Mr Lapavitsas as this whole thing continues to evolve.

  28. Israel is pushing racism against blacks, in America and Israel. And America's racist has joined Israel, so someone needs to explain this shyt and quit ignoring it.

  29. Sorry,I'm not an economist, but i do know common sense when I hear it. Maybe you should debate Varoufakis if you think you're right. Don't ask me to take your word without proof of your beliefs.

  30. IF YOU USE DIFFERENT TITLES FOR THE VARIOUS PARTS OF THE SAME INTERVIEW (WHICH HAPPENS REGULARLY) AND SAID SEQUENCES ARE NOT POSTED SIMULTANEOUSLY, WOULD YOU AT LEAST BE SO KIND AS TO INCLUDE A LINK TO THE PREVIOUS SEQUENCE IN YOUR DESCRIPTION ?!
