A month after India suspended autonomy in Indian-controlled Kashmir, reporters there still face severe restrictions. Local media outlets are struggling to report freely under an unprecedented communications blackout. What does that mean for Kashmiris?

  1. Hmm.. how come this news channel was allowed to report this if there is restrictions? Is this also not the true news? When people say they don't believe in what media is saying, how is this news believable?

  2. Evidently not a good situation. Why not let journalists report their findings? If any are wrong in their reports, then this only needs to be proven and, if justified, then corrected; plus, I guess the same is true for those who're right. All reporters need evidence. A govt providing false reporting is never acceptable, regardless of country. Etc. However, I don't think some comments are right in pretending that this is like the situation for Palestinians, esp. those still in whatever little is left of Palestine. I wouldn't make that comparison, having learned plenty of the situation in Palestine, . With that said, I hope the best for Kashmiris. India should practice MYOB. Why should Kashmir be administered by India? That umbilical cord should but severed " once and for all " (time). The Kashmiris should be respected and allowed to see to their own affairs. I don't know how the situation is presently going in Cheran, a part of Mexico, but it was apparently doing well over the past year or so: " The Freest City In The World? " (6:49), WeAreChange, 22 Dec 2018, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2uj4c28lShQ ; " They Overthrew The Government ?1?1?1 " (I don't know what the odd number is for) (11:11), again WAC, 20 Sep 2018, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g5DotTEuC5Q ; and, " No Cops! No Government! Just Anarchy In Mexico Town " (11:16), again WAC, 22 Aug 2018, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r3qRm3sXVRU. Cheràn was off to an apparent GOOD start, but I haven't come across any updates. The population of Cheràn got rid of the criminally violent cartels, the corrupt police, and the corrupt local govt or politicians, according to WAC's reporting anyway. Kashmir evidently needs to be released from the reingns of the Indian govt, and until that's done, then what the heck is the population of India supporting their govt for, I wonder. Not sure, but I don't think all segments of the pop. of India supports such injustice.

  3. Irrelevant question when one looks at everyday reality inside occupied kashmir. Internet cut in most sectors, massive military garrison, round the clock survaillance and counter intelligence and the ocasional killing of sacrificial civilians … Kashmir is Gaza is occupied land.

  4. Modi has turned Jammu-Kashmir into India's Gaza strip and TRNN asks if he's restricting freedom of the press. Seriously?

  5. Yes, not only Kashmir but all of India. Kashmiris has been held hostages by the far right government of the India. Modi, the Prime Minister of India, is a highly polarising figure who has captivated the nerve of the mass and he has become a cult figure who has led to mass hysteria. The standards of the media in India have dwindled to unprecedent levels and our mainstream media produces worse channels than MSNBC or Fox News.

  6. Same government corruption that has plagued this entire world when are people going to wake up ignorance is a bliss
