  1. The mayoral race in Portland in November was an absolute shit show because of Progressive "wokeism" – white folks being their own worst enemies and that of black people. Because of it, we ended up with Tear Gas Ted in the office again. I say this as a white, anti-racist progressive voter – but I also have more pragmatic strategies for getting results rather than running purity tests when it comes to voting in elections. There was a huge groundswell after the May primary to write in defeated primary candidate and black woman, Teresa Raiford the following November.

I have zero ill to say about Raiford. I have plenty of ill to say of all the people pushing to write in Raiford last November 6.

    MAY 2020:
The May primary election, as Bea said in your interview that our Mayor election will take the two top candidates in May and do a runoff in November between those two candidates – UNLESS one of the candidates in May gets more than 50% of the vote and then it's an automatic win. Raiford was IN that May election. All of the candidates running against Wheeler were generally more progressive and therefore spread out the vote for people opposing Wheeler. Wheeler just BARELY missed that 50% threshold that would have given him the win (it was literally 49.1%). SO it was going to be a tight race in November. Iannarone was the next closest runner up with 24% of the vote, giving her the clearest advantage to contest Wheeler's candidacy. The next closest was Raiford with only 8.5% and 7 candidates below her spreading out the remaining 18.4%. As much as I would have liked and endorsed Raiford as Mayor, she was mathematically shown as not viable for the November election.

    MAY-NOVEMBER 2020:
Yet the vocal progressive movement pushed to have Riaford written in. Raiford did NOT endorse the write-in campaign. Nor did she tell her supporters to stop. Misguided progressives that did NOT understand how runoff elections work demanded that people write Raiford in. When trying to explain why that was misguided, misplaced, and mistimed, I would get outright called a racist for not supporting Raiford. I was told how Iannarone would be worse than Wheeler because of her white privilege (worse than Ted's?). Iannarone was smeared by opponents from the right AND left as being too inexperienced in city government (never minding the fact that one of Portland's most famous and generally beloved mayors, Bud Clarke, was a restaurant owner before and after his Mayoral tenure).

    6 NOVEMBER 2020:
In the end, it sowed too much doubt with voters about Iannarone (who had always polled better than Wheeler) from all directions and here we are in 2021 with Tear Gas Ted still in office. The share of votes he earned was several points BELOW what he had gotten in May (46%). Iannarone lost by less than 6 points (40.8). And Raiford got even less vote share (0%); "other write-in" votes had 13.2% – these were probably a mix of conservatives, liberals, and progressives who just "couldn't vote for Sarah" because of the smear campaigns. Stats: https://ballotpedia.org/Mayoral_election_in_Portland,_Oregon_(2020)

    24 JANUARY 2021:
To top it all off, most recently, Ted actually himself pepper-sprayed a critic while exiting a restaurant and returning to his car, living up to his eponymous name. https://www.wweek.com/news/city/2021/02/01/mayor-ted-wheeler-will-now-have-a-security-detail-with-him-virtually-any-time-hes-in-public-following-pepper-spray-incident/

  2. Seriously you're trying to get 422K subs and rando's to watch over an hour of your breakdown of US election 2020?
Just gonna totally act like it matters who votes and for whom are you? Despite the clear evidence individuals are not represented in elections in the US. Facts. Someone will win. Dozy media channels will cover the charade. Nothing will change. The US will continue to be driven by an elite bunch of dicks and the US citizenry will suffer for it.
