  1. Rent Control is pure stupidity. Paul Krugman, one of the most liberal economists on earth, states rent control is stupid. Lets talk about the consequences of rent controls in any form. There is less housing. Because rents stay low, vacancy rates remain low so no one has incentive to leave. People who could normally afford an apartment for $1,000 would only have to pay $500 in rent for the same apartment because of rent controls in place. This means less housing for everyone because people never move. This creates more demand for housing, however developers generally will not build because of the risks associated with the rent controls. Additionally, owners of buildings with rent controls lose incentive to repair their properties because rents are capped and their expenses continue to rise through inflation etc. The quality of housing will deteriorate. Owners only improve property if there is something to gain from improving it. This is a basic tenet of capitalism. Why would you invest money in something if you will not get anything out of it? This is extreme stupidity and there will be consequences. Look at what happened in NYC in the 1970's. A lot of buildings were burned for insurance purposes because taxes increased to the point where building ownership was not profitable. We will go down that road or a similar road when these laws are passed. These laws will repeat a bad portion of history in NYC. Enjoy.

  2. I'm deeply impressed on her bold stand defending the rights and dignity of sex workers. Our Revolution, DSA, strong progressive. I wish I could have voted for her, but I'm not from Brooklyn.
