The slave trade was abolished in 1808, but this ship, the Clotilda, sailed in 1860 and was sunk by its owner once he won his bet and sold his human cargo. Historian Sylviane Diouf discusses the discovery

  1. Where is the proof? These are stories used to mentally enslave. They smuggled in illegal workers that wanted to come to America to work but it was outlawed to bring in undocumented immigrants so they started human trafficking. No one was forced to come here. They were forced into enslavement once they got here.

  2. They found a piece of wood in a ship graveyard with ZERO proof that it is the clotilda but they told y’all that it is the Clotilda when they don’t know which ship it is. This is bs and bs to keep y’all in a place you don’t belong. There is absolutely ZERO evidence of any slave ships found in the Americas because we was already here!! Migrants came over here to work and those migrants were Dutch, irish, Italians Africans that came to work. Africans were forced into labor once they were here on their own freewill.

  3. Yeah right! Lol. They’re trying to push that narrative so badly. Where are the ships? Every nation participated. Why haven’t y’all found a single ship? Ya manage to find Viking ships, Spanish ships but not one single slave ship? The story is made up!

  4. "If we don't address our past and understand how it defines the present, then we'll never get through the future" – epic Marc Steinerism

    Also great story, thanks

  5. …yeah…america is terrible for blacks…but it's not too late…they can all still go back to africa…by plane or by ship…you're new cannibal overlords are waiting too taste er…welcome you…bon voyage…

  6. What's the actual story here? We already knew about about this slave ship. So they found it, no history was changed by this discovery. If it was 1960 that would be a huge and horrible discovery but history stands without modification.

  7. Deuteronomy 28:68 and the lord shall bring thee into Egypt again with ships, in EXODUS 20:2 GOD CALL EGYPT SLAVERY, IN REVELATION 11:8 GOD CALL AMERICA SPIRITUAL SODOM AND EGYPT…. WE NOT AFRICAN WE ARE THE ISREALITE

  8. Jesus H! I love the RN [I donate monthly] but on all these online shows would guests who call-in [skype etc] to add some form of sound baffling [muffling] to their room so it is not so echoey. Like this guest, for instance, how would she like if she had to try and listen to MY thick regional accent over a skype connection in my bathroom? not fun you say? shocker!

  9. Hey folks at The REAL News
    Check out a person Named
DANE CALLOWAY for a little brush up on some REAL HISTORY AND NOT HIS-STORY PLEASE AND THANKS

  10. What was their dream?? "To Depart From The Nightmare" – This lady may mean well but Black people are more than tired of others telling our story. Why not interview the actual descendents in Alabama??

  11. I am a descendant of Cudjoe Lewis, what does this mean to me, my Ancestor was brought here illegally, attempted to return and was rejected. I HAVE HIS BLOOD, and have not been compensated.

  12. Good piece, I read the book not too long ago. But, what now? Proof and truth doesn't matter, especially for blk ppl. In vids like these, commenters compare their ppl past injustice to issues that are still happening to us now. It's just pathetic.

  13. This is nothing more than an attempt to combat the fact that many of us are realizing we're not African. Funny how they've began to find ships only when we started to question their narrative lmfao!!!!

  14. I still dont get why discovery significant? There were lots of slave ships. There was illegal slave trade despite US and foreign navy attempt to stop it. She does not explain why significant to history of slave trade. This was oe ship of thousands that brought slaves and in this case illegally. The host repeatedly and unsuccessfully tried to get an answer of how it is significant to the present.

  15. Physical evidence is good. Stories are tied together with this discovery.
Right now the Texas State School Board has approved books that now teach children in America that the slave trade was "really just indebted servitude. They have huge power over the school books that are produced. America is trying to hide their reality and this ship helps keep the truth where it belongs.

  16. The idea that there is "anti" anything in the USA, pales aside the obvious, documented, construction of an economic immoral system that produced inequality and discrimination on a massive scale.Over 11 million Africans entered the USA by this process. Along with the Native American (Indian) population, the United States owes two – and only two – "people" anything. Blacks and Indians. The more that history is explained and made into a canonical understanding, the less chance that propaganda and political loudspeakers will smother them.

  17. It is truly sad when you realize that the actual victims of centuries long violent abuse never received their restitution. Justice is a rare bird.

  18. Though reparations are relevant and due, we still have to deal with capitalism and the social relations of work in America.
Working in America is still an oppressive act for some 130 million people and not working in America is an oppressive act for some 20 million people.
Admittedly, nobody working and not working in America are whipped into submission like a slave but there is a form of slavery with invisible chains on people who work in the US as wage earners.
Workers when they are sellers have to keep selling themselves in the job they hold and when they are not sellers but are working as workers in the job they are not their own boss and take no share of whatever it is they produce. A worker's reality is a different reality when altenating between the social roles as seller and producer from employers as sellers and employers as producers. As producers the product is theirs and taken away from the workers and as sellers they accumulate the value of that product. A slave produces a product but still keeps it, a worker does not. A slave cannot be separated from the means of production a worker can. In the position of a seller the worker's survival is their own and in the role as producer the worker's survival is measured by the quanitity of the magnitude of its value. Outside of work a worker has no value but as a worker working for an employer a worker produces value. These anomolies turn people into monsters and if this contradcition between the social relation of work and working in America is not resolved, there will be no humanity in the manner of the way we work as a civilization.

  19. The Africans brought to America we're not African they raise for like refugees living in Africa. Let's restart that story by telling the truth about who these people are the whole world knows now stop with the lies.

  20. Fun fact: Wanna guess how the Bush clan, as in, GW Bush, made their fortune when they immigrated from England to America in the 1700s? Slavery. They were big time slave merchants, as in, thousands of Africans captured and sold.. Look it up on duckduckgo.

  21. amazing history, could be a movie. so mr. mayer violates federal law smuggling slaves, he surely supported the war of southern secession…the south loses the war, but he is neither tried nor convicted of any crime once the war is won by the north….he just goes on about his business… the hypocrisy and double dealing of the american white man whenever there is money to be made…has no equal in the annals of history.

  22. Most all slave owners were liberals. Descendants of slave owners are present-day Democrats, what the hell happened. Word to the wise, watch who you vote for, you may get it right and finaly enjoy true prosperity you so much deserve.
