Lawmaker Says Union Fired Him For Pushing Police Reform

1. This guy needs to be in the law makers union he's got good ideas it would work cops won't like it if there corupt but those cops needs out of the force

AmeriKKKa is a totalitarian democracy: sounds like an oxymoron but the best way to describe it, is that it's a lawless country and every chance the politicians get they accuse China and Iran of human rights violations. It has gotten so bad recently that they are using the FBI to demonize China. 9. Very good interview, and I wish for great success in achieving needed corrections to the law enforcement system, albeit also to the whole political, govt system as well. It's ALL been needed for a LONG time now.

12. Thank god this young man has brought this to light – we need to know what is happening with the police. Mr. Acevedo is the perfect example of a representative. The fact that he can’t be bought speaks of integrity and ethics. What a great value he is to the public. God protect him and the people who want justice for the people..

15. A capitalist society produces greedy people who will kill 40% of fellow americans to get ahead. They will kill, they will use racial violence, and 60% of the population will sit back and do nothing because they're not the ones being murdered.
    To fix the problem we need to change the system to a more socialist society. Not perfect, but definately better than our current system.

How is this not surprising,President Obama mentioned how a cop was wrong when abusing a Harvard professor(black) for opening the door to his own house.The police union pitched such a fit the President of the United States had to cow tow to that cop and invite him to the White House to "have a beer",that's how powerful the police unions are!These Police Unions must be "BUSTED",PERIOD!!!

19. It goes way deeper than police unions. For instance, countless peer reviewed research has concluded that the overwhelming majority of individuals that want to work in law enforcement test extraordinarily high for two important personality types: Right-wing Authoritarianism (RWA) and Social Dominance Orientation (SDO). I suggest everyone take five minutes to Google those and you will quickly see how these two personality types are literally the worst type of people to work in law enforcement.

    With respect to RWA the two important characteristics are Authoritarian Submission (blindly and and uncritically submitting to authority) and Authoritarian aggression (acting with violence and aggression toward anyone that doesn't blindly submit to authority). With respect to SDO, those people believe that some humans are naturally inferior and that it's the duty and entitlement of the superior groups to dominate the inferior ones through the use of institutional hierarchies (e.g. Jim crow, apartheid). This typifies the individuals that want to be police….so we're basically in a situation in which anyone who wants to be a cop is psychologically the worst possible candidate for the job… Do you see how that is at the root of the problem and how no amount of laws banning choke holds will address that psychology?

    I urge everyone to Google Right-wing Authoritarianism (in psychology) as researchers have found that those who test high for RWA basically always vote republican and that in America, Conservatism and RWA go hand in hand…. For example, several peer reviewed studies have found that the unifying characteristic among all trump supporters that transcends age, class, religion, gender, and race is a strong presence of the Authoritarian Personality type! Anyone who truly wants to "know their enemy" needs to understand RWA. A good place to start is to look up a book by the leading expert in the field, Bob Altemeyer, called "The Authoritarians". It's available for free in audio book format on YouTube… I promise you, the experiments detailed in this book that demonstrate what Authoritarians are capable of will literally shock you.
