LGBTQ history and the current backlash | The Marc Steiner Show – Everything Law and Order Blog

Over 800 anti-LGBTQ bills have either been passed or are on the docket in 27 states, according to the organization Human Rights Campaign. Much of this legislation targets transgender people in particular, focusing on gender-affirming medical care, public education, and the presence of gender nonconforming people in public space. As a result, schools, healthcare, and public space have been dragged into the frontlines of a new culture war that ultimately takes aim at democracy itself. The Marc Steiner Show hosts a special intergenerational Pride Month panel among queer activists to reflect on the current moment’s resonance with past threats to the LGBTQ community, and what lessons such history can offer in the fight ahead.

  1. The LGBTQIA+ movement has nothing to do with gay rights… i have experienced more homophobia from the TQ+ brigade than i did as a gay teenager in Virginia in the early 90s.

  3. Marc, I'm with you but to praise the corrupt Democratic Party is a bit much. They cheat just to get the nominee they want. They lie about Russian interference in our elections. They support the apartheid State of Israel and the proxy war in Ukraine. They imprison journalists and whistleblowers who reveal the truth of what our government does in our name on our dime. I can go on and on. Both, the Democratic and Republican Parties are hypocrites. They serve and enrich themselves while taking orders from oligarchs and corporate lobbyists.

  4. I have nothing against and support ALL rights, trans, gay , but don’t like it shoved in my face, that’s your personal business. I really hate that they are targeting kids that makes me furious. I’m far far far left. Stop making it such a big deal, that’s why people are angry and targeted kids is wrong. A month come on, too much. We all have struggles. Tuning out

  5. In 2023, the majority of people don’t have an issue with gays but do especially with trans males identifying as females. The issues are around protecting children and women’s rights.

Why trans (biological males)? Because they are sexualizing children by dressing sexually, seductively when around them, by thrusting their gentials, twirking, seductively looking at the kids while they overly exaggerate baby talk and putting kids on their laps.

It’s about Pride parades where songs are sung (including on the internet) “we’re coming for your children (and you can’t do anything about it) and walking around naked in public, replicating sex acts with children in the crowd.

It’s about women including lesbians angry at so called trans men who are taking over and destroying female sports, sorority houses, women’s colleges and public restrooms.

It’s about how ridiculous trans men portray females as cartoonish dramatic characters that don’t resemble or remotely act like typical females.

On social media, many gays and lesbians are speaking out against the current pride movement and no longer want to be associated with them. They are fed up with behavior, the militancy and careless disregard for the welfare of children. They want to protect children’s innocence and women’s rights that was fought for so vigorously.

  6. There’s quite a lot of narcissists in this political lobby. That’s the difference, Mr. Steiner. TQ+ is a Queer Theory fetishist movement that seeks more privilege for heterosexual white people, particularly males. I’m a lifelong Democrat and am tired of being called right-wing for defending the rights of women and safeguarding children. Homo(bi)sexuality is based upon same-sex attraction, not gender. Please educate yourself and stop promoting this hateful, sadistic political lobby backed by transhumanist billionaires. Thank you.

  7. Hmmm…the speaker said the psychiatric community was medicalizing gender nonconforming people (e.g., gay men). So glad the psychiatric community no longer promotes medicalizing gender nonconformity. Oh wait….

  8. Globe ? It is illegal in Eastern Europe, many nations in Africa, all of the Middle East, Russia and other parts of Asia .

  9. That Democratic party take was so gross. I could feel him wanting to simp for democrats from the start of the talk. Good video, but that needs more push back. The democrats are not our friends. 27:36

  10. In the end, we're gonna be fone. I think we're in tge process, as a society, of establishing boundaries of what elements of trans are ok/not okay to expose kids of different ages to, including the degrees of sexuality.
Pkus, there's jyst a general pushback of an over-saturation of "trans" everywhere and constantly. Not everyone wants to jump aboard the bandwagon, which is perfectly fine.
In the end, after lots of hurt feelings and many stupid statements made, it'll settle into place.

  11. Your Democrat lovefest is nauseating, the Democrats and the Republicans are working together to take all the rights away from we the people none of them are your savior

  12. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate & am grateful for this truthfully informative & interesting podcast. Having lived most of my 73 years(OMG how did THAT happen?😂) in the southernmost U.S. as a gay woman, I have also experienced these struggles. I’m happy to report I won that battle & have a smile on my face to prove it! But so sad the battle continues on today…..VOTE🏳️‍🌈!

  13. Born both male and female.

Being intersex is more common than most people realize. It’s hard to know exactly how many people are intersex, but estimates suggest that about 1-2 in 100 people born in the U.S. are intersex.

There are many different ways someone can be intersex. Some intersex people have genitals or internal sex organs that fall outside the male/female categories — such as a person with both ovarian and testicular tissues. Other intersex people have combinations of chromosomes that are different than XY ( usually associated with male) and XX (usually associated with female), like XXY. And some people are born with external genitals that fall into the typical male/female categories, but their internal organs or hormones don’t.
