Marc Steiner Show: Black and Indigenous antifascism, Cindy Blackman Santana, and social justice – Everything Law and Order Blog

In the premier episode of the Marc Steiner Show, as fears mount over political violence in the wake of the election, Dr. Nikki Taylor and Dr. Gerald Horne talk about the history of, and resistance to, fascist violence against Indigenous and Black communities in the US.

Virtuoso drummer Cindy Blackman Santana released a new genre-bending album in September, produced by Narada Michael Walden and featuring collaborations with husband Carlos Santana, Metallica’s Kirk Hammett, and guitarist Vernon Reid. Cindy talks to Marc about our trying times and her music’s place in them.

  1. They came up to Eastern Washington in 2018 before they headed to Canada. Her drum Solos are a show onto themselves, and Carlos had two other drummers too for other sets, what a show!

  2. Nationalist Americans for Trumps Zionist Imperialism "NATZI" party (yep I did say it, n misspelled it on purpose) will replace the republican party if the grifter in chief keeps up his plans

  3. Progressives are super-establishment from an anti-war point of view.  Bernie himself does not want US assaults on and invasions of North Africa and Africa, but clearly he is the No 1 Bro who builds voting blocks of anti-establishment Prgressive hearts to feed to the Biden Establishment election efforts and Neocon/Neoliberal war machine.  Progressives dream about expensive new Green New Deal apartments and sustainable energy ahead of burning down the comfortable 'house' they live in. They will be forced into the military to fight the oil wars that the establishment will use to fuel the cars you drive to maintain demand for the oil they steal.  Biden will never let Bernie, or Elisabeth Warren into his cabinet.  AOC is blamed for diluting the Democrat message and weakening the parties appeal to moderates, and is conceivably under the Biden bus forever.  The only real anti-establishment figure, from a foriegn/international perspective, has orange hair and at present has stopped the oil wars. That is my analysis, and I abhore the Establishments foriegn Central Banks and their violent demands on everyone.

  4. U.S. labor holds all the cards. Now that the election is over, Labor should call for  a General Strike minus USPS. Richard Trumka needs to be ousted at the AFL-CIO. A General Strike is needed.
    A list of Demand:
    – $2000 mth for every mother and father in America.
    -Medicare for All
-bring back the 1950s tax code
-let the military operate the trucks, train, and plains of the corporate commerce, to include the loading and unloading
    – this list of demands are only the starting point.
-The Stock Market is in the shitter, labor needs to strike while the iron is hot and go for the juggler. The Corporate Dems are nothing but Republican/NeoLiberal KuKs. Stay off the streets and let the Covid plague work on the cops, militias, and Nazis.

  5. I hope US youth grasps the core of the settler colonial contradictions in the US and are prepared to take the necessary steps to defeat it!

  6. You're not going to get social justice for voting for people who would put BLM and Rainbow flags symbols on predator drones.

  7. Want more of such great discussions. Thoughtful on so many levels! I'm always looking for conversations that help me to understand my world and this certainly did.
