4,500 educators with the Minneapolis Federation of Teachers have been on strike since March 8, demanding smaller class sizes, better pay and benefits, more mental health resources for students, and increased workforce diversity. After working through the COVID-19 pandemic and years of austerity policies, teachers and education support professionals (ESP) have reached their breaking point. “I have multiple jobs, and I still live paycheck to paycheck because my wages are insufficient,” Ma-Riah Roberson-Moody, a lead negotiator for the ESP chapter of the city’s teacher union, recently told NBC News. “I can make more money right now going to work at Target than I do working for Minneapolis Public Schools, and that is difficult.” TRNN Editor-in-Chief Maximillian Alvarez discusses the strike and what educators have been going through in recent years with Karin, an education support professional who has worked in the Minneapolis district for 6 years.

  1. Before It's News
    March 23 2022
EVIDENCE!RECALL REPORTS 21 MILLION CELL PHONES USERS MYSTERIOUSLY DISAPPEARED AND 40 INCINERATORS

  2. You can tell from her eyes that she has been through hell and back. Lovely girl. Intelligent. Caring. Resourceful. Self-sacrificing. Introspective. Determined. Forthcoming. Traumatized and brave. 1 of 7 billion for sure.

  3. There’s a 6 part none political video out called [Satan’s New World Order – 2013 Film] Originally recorded in the 1960’s it dares to shed light on the psyche of the Grand Designers of the NWO/WEF.

  4. Here is hope!!!!! We have become a society where the police are not subject to the very laws they enforce. They call it qualified immunity and disguise it "in the interest of public safety " With the cooperation of the state attorney's office, office of the public defender, and the local magistrate. Police officers do not work as public servants but rather enforcers for the government. When they are accountable to no one but themselves. Not investigated by anyone but themselves. This is allowed and accepted by everyone in the community due to fear and intimidation. The only way to change is to start holding ALL POLICE accountable and have a civilian task force elected by the community to oversee all arrests, evidence, and witnesses before a trial date is set

  5. Citizens in Minnesota and especially Mpls overfund their schools and take pride in them, wrote school funding in their constitution, create special additional funds such as lottery, etc to fund – this is nonsense

  6. Trick of the unions is to concentrate the money at the top purposely creating low paying entry jobs and shortages so they can point to these stories that tug at our hearts – is it working?

  7. Funny – Dems negotiate with Dems to con more out of the local taxpayers – the local taxpayers want to be virtuous trying to believe in sob stories so they let me pick their pocket clean while the rest of us move out of state – enjoy your progressivism.

  8. Quit if you are overworked and underpayed – tell me after you quit if you get better hours and better pay and benefits – you won't which is why you won't quit – you bullshetter.

  9. Thank you for sharing your video the most beautiful job in the world is in danger you are millions in the United States to demonstrate that money does not go to public schools… Double standards the pandemic has not helped things it is necessary to change your constitution on the 14 amendment neo liberalism destroys more than it builds thank you for the sharing of Europe we continue to follow you thank you

  10. Thank u. Would u please report on the genocide that is going in Ethiopia? Mainstream media is not discussing it and the UN is mute. It is in the Tygra area.

  11. My observation is that…….when a job gives lots of job gratification and is an enjoyable experience, employers often recognize this and pay less because people will stay at the job despite the low pay.

Certainly an anecdotal take on the situation. but it sure has been consistent.

  12. The REAL losers here are the kids educations! Great job you selfish adults..is there no other bargaining chip other than striking and holding the entire society to randsom? All these strikes do is put society at large on the brink of collapse just for a miniscule percentage increase in wages.

  13. Let theses Minneapolis Public School teachers continue on with their strike! The kids will learn just the same amount either way! 🤭

  14. How about we don’t send 1 billion USD-worth arms to Ukraine in a week (!!) and instead distribute this wealth onto our schools?!

  15. Dumbass teachers think they want more money again. As if they actually EARN what they already get.
You're on the verge of being replaced by robots teach, ready to go out and try a real job?

  16. I BELIEVE POLICE UNIONS SHOULD B RESPONSIBLE 4THE GREATER PART OF ANY SETTLEMENT N AWARDS SO THAT THE LAWSUITS WILL NOT AFFECT OTHER AGENCIES OF GOVERNMENT WITH ALL THE PAYOUTS ESPECIALLY SCHOOLS
IN THAT WAY POLICE RESTRUCTURING WILL HAPPEN AT A QUICKER PACE
MAYBE I'M JUST CRAZY BUT IT SOUNDS QUITE RATIONAL 2ME
THEY'VE PRACTICALLY KILLED OFF ALL THE UNIONS BY SENDING ALL THE MANUFACTURING JOBS OUTSIDE THE US
THEY'RE RETURNING BACK AS UNION LESS JOBS
BUT LAW ENFORCEMENT WAS ALLOWED 2BECOME WAY 2POWERFUL BY DESIGN
IT NEEDS 2B DECONSTRUCTED N REBUILD AS A VIABLE SUPPORT OF JUSTICE NOT A HINDERANCE

  17. EXACTLY YYY THE US GOVERNMENT NEED 2FUND THE IRS
ESPECIALLY SINCE THE GOVERNMENT REFUSES FARE TAXATION
THEY CAN AT LEAST GO AFTER THE TAXES OWED BY THE OWNER DONORS
N STOP DEFUNDING THE IRS SO THAT THEY WILL ONLY GO AFTER THE LEAST FORTUNATE AMERICANS NOR FUND A 3,000 MANNED TASKFORCE 2GO AFTER RUSSIA'S OLIGARCHS
GO AFTER AMERICAN OLIGARCHS WITH THAT TASKFORCE SO THAT OUR GOVERNMENT CAN GIVE ITS CITIZENS MORE OF A FARE CHANCE N REPRIEVE IN PROGRESSING IN THIS CAPITALIST SOCIETY
NO ONE WANTS 2DIE ON MINIMUM WAGE NOR IN UR ENDLESS WARS

  18. I resigned my American teaching job last year because I finally realized our society treats teachers as though we are on a different team. So I fully embraced the idea that practically everyone in my community thinks teachers are an adversary somehow. I am highly qualified in a shortage area. I teach online for a different country now. Competition!!! I have far better parents, better administrators, better resources and even better students. My current students will probably be the bosses for all the illiterate American kids one day. American schools are unstable and unsafe. Expect better! Have some standards! Sure, I'll go find a better team in another country then! Competition is the answer after all. Got it, and I'm doing much better for it. I think a bus driver is teaching my former class.

  19. Maybe stop sending funds to other countries and put it to work for Americans who put those funds into the fund but have no say so over how they are distributed.

  20. It’s really sad that teachers are the foundation of our youth but yet they are paid like second class citizens. Defund the damn police and give these teachers what they deserve and that’s a pay and benefits like police and firefighters get.
Do away with Qualified Immunity and then you’ll have the money needed for these teachers.
END TERRY v OHIO and watch the changes that will follow. Our teachers will be making equal pay to police as it should be if not more. It’s sad a rookie cop comes in making more than a teacher with 20 years of dedicated , hard and respectful work.
Minneapolis, Minnesota DO THE RIGHT THING AND GIVE THESE TEACHERS EVERYTHING THEIR ASKING FOR !!!! Take the money from the police overtime and donut fund !!!

  21. Unfortunately austerity is one of those grey areas that the people guilty of it will deny it to their deaths.
