27. I was expecting worse from Real News. This was kinda OK coverage but sounded more like echo chamber talks rather than ground reality. I remember discussing elections in Nov. (Much before the campaign began) and our first assumption was always "Modi is coming back to power lets start from there". Yet some people are acting surprised. It's the same thing western media did after Trump won- blame the voters so that nobody questions the status quo in the losing party.

    The economy is far better in India and growing better than the US, China, Western Europe etc. Modi has done a lot of social programs in his first term and reduced Central Government corruption by his schemes (State Gov corruption still exists though). It is the delivery that made him skate through another term with increased seats as well as increased vote share.

    Farmers have been given a raw deal by multiple governments before. They also have been given a lot of subsidies all these years which actually went to the middle men and corrupt beauracrats instead of the farmers. Nothing specific that Modi alone did though I think in the second term he would do more.

    But who cares. The beacons of the left have a hard time recognizing the results of the world's largest democratic exercise.
