The GOP and neocons probably objectively loath democracy a hell of a lot more than Putin, but are even more evil, because they are masters at pretending they favour democracy, while Putin is open about it. Fight against Putin's banks and oligarchs sure, but first focus more on getting rid of the neoconservative and neoliberal hegemony at home, otherwise you will never succeed in helping the Russian people.
The Soviet Union was also NEVER an economic nor a nuclear threat. Because firstly their central planned command economy was grossly inefficient and corrupt (probably more corrupt than western capitalism), and secondly because they knew they would suffer more from a global nuclear environmental catastrophe. The nuclear deterrent has always been empty posturing. Any one country launching nukes against another would immediately become an international pariah, period. The USA had the sole exception joker card at the end of WW2, and was not condemned internationally by polite folks becasue of the universally agreed evil of the fascist-imperial Axis. The true deterrent has, and will always be, collective world unity and collective security — which is only growing stronger and stronger the more people wake up to the lunacy of neocon ideology and propaganda.
By focusing for two years on the now officially debunked "Russiagate" conspiracy theories Democrats and hysterical journalists like Rachel Maddow have handed Trump a huge gift for his 2020 re-election campaign, validating his charge of "fake news". They have also wasted time and energy which could have been instead devoted to the many existential issues facing us. But endless Trump bashing both sells (the media love Trump) and supposedly grants moral high ground to fake "journalists", corrupt politicians like Schiff et. al., and pundits like Brennan.
I do not think we should support Israel militarily or any other nations military. We should only provide aid to other countries in the form of humanitarian relief. Does that make me anti semetic? If we can't discuss this issue because of the history of dreadful persecution inflicted on Jews, we'll be giving in to two forms of racism- Apartheid in Israel, and antisemitism itself, which feeds on such prohibitions.
