11. I went to Rice and graduated the year this Institute was opened. Didn't realize it would become such a pro-corporate institute, but should've known long ago that it was. Baker's grandfather was one of the largest contributors and "founding fathers" of Rice. I've seldom felt so ashamed to have gone there (it's still one of the cheapest best educations out there) but am hoping to work from the inside to advocate change where possible… Obama's words here, however, are really important and I hope others will help also to keep amplifying his wisdom: he seems legitimately to regret having helped fan the flames of the far-right, world-wide. Hope the Dems, the DCCC and the party in general will WAKE UP to this fact before trying to shove his VP down our throats next year, and that the corporate media also takes heed. Don't think they will, though — if you believe this message needs to be better circulated, don't be afraid to get rhetorically uncomfortable to non-believers…
