9. Jesus Christ! Stop mincing words and giving us endless facts, figures, graphs, percentages, etc. The truth is that all that wealth is made off the backs of workers, both employed and unemployed. The capitalists wouldn't be able to rub two nickels together if not for the massive, gross, exploitation of all labor. Unemployed, and low wage workers supply unimaginable wealth to them. If they paid a living wage to everyone complete with benefits, there would be no wealth disparity. Pure and simple. But the bigger, deeper, more insidious reason for the way they treat us is to exploit human shame and fear because this keeps us on our knees, taking crap off them. If we didn't have to spend our lives afraid of losing a job, not getting a job, or keeping a job by sacrificing our self-respect by keeping our mouths shut when faced with an employer hierarchy that demands our unquestioning obedience no matter how we are treated because we're afraid that something we say or do will get us fired, or worse, blackballed, we might start feeling a whole lot better about ourselves, and then they'd be in Big Trouble. Their abuse of us is designed to keep us at odds with ourselves, so that when these capitalists export jobs, and lower wages by not keeping up with standard of living costs, we turn it in on ourselves as if we are to blame. Immediately, we start trying to fix ourselves so that maybe the bosses will let up on us if they see how "nice" and "smart" we are. When they poison the water, air, and the land by fracking, oil pipelines, lead, and a host of other things that are too numerous to mention here, and we get sick and start dying off, we remain silent, and just take it. That's how shame works. So, besides being cash cows for capitalists, we are caught in a cycle of systematic psychological, emotional, mental and physical abuse that works so well that at every social-economic level people are committing suicide in growing numbers. Blacks who don't understand that the system literally plans their failure to assure that there is a large pool of hungry, raggedy families for them to exploit, are tearing each other apart. Still we remain in a silent denial that our rulers thrive on because being dishonest with ourselves leads to more shame, more fear, and more self-doubt. We go on believing we're not good enough; not the right class, not the right color; and that we're stupid, crazy, ugly, out of shape, with no talents that anyone values. We poison ourselves by drinking, eating too much, sleeping with strangers, gambling, and getting high to take away the pain. There's a reason that 80% of the drugs sold in the world are bought right here in America, despite the myth of opportunity that is really emotional, monetary, blackmail designed to buy our silence and our souls. I'm telling you that if we take a shot at dealing with what capitalism is doing to us, with our blessing, we'd start loving ourselves, others, and the planet. We'd take our world back, and dare them to try and take it from us.

19. The U.S. monetary system HAS NOT been tethered to the gold standard since 1971. FDR also took us off the gold standard in 1933. That is a good thing, because who wants the U.S. monetary system to be tied to a finite metal, which only gets it value from the gold-buggers on Wall Street trying to sell it; let alone the damage extracting gold from the earth does to the environment and the people who and enslaved to remove it under very inhumane conditions.

    Any fool lawmaker in congress worth their salt (which is always debatable) will tell you if you have the patent or copyright to something–anything–you have a right by that law to create as much of that thing as you want, so long as you have the available resources to create it.

    During the Great Depression when people had little or NO MONEY, let alone any money to pay TAXES with, how did FDR and the U.S. federal government "pay for" the New Deal spending work programs for the highways, dams, bridges, and art programs, to get the economy growing and the working class functioning again? The U.S. federal government was able to pay for those programs, because the U.S. federal government is the sole monopoly issuer copyright holder patent holder of the U.S. dollar. In other words, We People the are the RESOURCE that gives the U.S. dollar its value by paying taxes. Not "gold" or "silver" or "chicken neck" or "sea shells" or" beads."

20. The ONLY purpose of a wealth tax is keep the super wealthy (Billionaires) from buying our elections under Citizen United, etc. Our federal taxes DO NOT fund our federal spending program. Federal taxes are immediately deleted upon receipt by the federal government as soon as they receive them. The ONLY purpose of federal taxes is to give our currency, the U.S. dollar, its VALUE. Nothing more. Everyone knows that the only way to give a value to something is by subscribing a value to it. It is no different for the U.S. federal government. Like it or not this is the price we pay for having a uniform sovereign fiat currency, which everyone can use.

    Article One, Section Eight of the U.S. constitution mandates that Congress mint (create funds) and tax (valuing the dollar) to provide for the general welfare of society.

    Yes, we also need to tax the super rich, but NOT because we NEED their taxes to pay for policy programs, but to STOP them from hoarding BILLIONS of U.S. dollars and using those billions to buy our elections, by bribing our elected representatives. When the super rich tax don't pay their taxes, by hiding their money in offshore accounts, they decrease and devalue the U.S. dollar, because they are not contributing to dollar's value by paying their fair share federal taxes. This why we need to tax the rich.

21. I say tax everybody with 500 M or more with a progressive tax of 1% -10% as they exploit the people, especially Amazon. The problem is that both the Dems and the Reps are controled by the Money Power.

23. A wealth tax historically does not work. 13 European countries adopted it in the 90s and only 3 of them still have it today. The reason why countries got rid of it because it was costly to administer, it did not generate expected revenue and it lead to a mass exodus of millionaires. The other three countries that still have a wealth tax has it way lower than Bernie or Warren's proposal.
