Police said his rights didn’t matter, but they didn’t know another camera was watching… – Everything Law and Order Blog

A Los Angeles County Sheriff’s traffic stop, allegedly conducted for excessive window tinting, led to a fishing expedition that stranded an innocent passenger at night without her phone, wallet, keys or transportation. But cop watchers @laurasharkcw @tomzebra and @jodiekatmedia appeared on the scene to hold LASD accountable and to assist the stranded passenger. This week on the Police Accountability Report, hosts Taya Graham and Stephen Janis speak with Tom and Laura about the encounter and discuss what this case reveals about the phenomenon of over policing and the incentive structure behind the questionable allocation of police time and resources.

  1. Suing a cop is bullshit, all you're doing is getting tax dollars they are not paying nothing. Think about it. A much greater action must be taken.

  2. Besides these crooked cops make money for the city that's why no one cares about all the cooking things that are being done to innocent

  3. Problem with these lawmakers is they won't make laws to rest comps for lying and doing anything on duty until it happens one of their family members

  4. Some police are now being taught that the stste really owns your vehicle, police, don't need permisdion to search. We were stopped in fairlawn, I braught certificate of title, and was informed it is a fake document provided by state. Real tit

  5. He's sheriff, not a cop! I'm not sure why that sheriff is interfering in duties of police department – was he too bored?! And if cop/sheriff was in the wrong and found guilty the 10% of those damages should be paid by cop/sheriff himself!

  6. It's pretty dang ridiculous that the L.A. police have gangs inside the police department and nothing is being done about it. I cannot imagine being a man of color living in a city that is slap full of corrupt cops. You can bet the farm that our LORD knows every single detail about everyone of them.Their time will come when all their corruption will be dealt with. Won't be a 5 year sentence….it will be for ALL ETERNITY.

  7. THE SUPREME COURT HAS ALREADY HAS AN OPINION ON THIS THAT MERELY THE SMELL OF MARIJUANA IS NOT PROBABLE CAUSE TO SEARCH YOUR VEHICLE, WHICH IS PART OF THE CASTLE DOCTRINE!

  8. I'm anti-police with how thay act, but the monologue at the end didn't hit imo. There were some logic flaws. While it's dusturbing at some of their behavior, they are a necessary evil. There have been many high profile or big crimes that without them may have continued.

However, it's always wrong to push when the law doesn't allow, to the point of infringing on rights, even if that push uncovers sonething greater.

There's also the issue of the law cycle and wasting time of people's life with it. Much of this stuff is based on money, as if they're a business.

  9. It's getting to the point that "Cop watchers" need to team up with lawyers and start a series of "citizens arrests" of these so called law enforcement officers that continue to break the laws

  10. They should send police back to the beginning of training for the full term when officers neglect the protocols and their duties of policing the community they serve and hurt the people they took the oath to serve and protect. This should be LAW!!! Back to school, you go to learn the law.

  11. I would like to know the reason that the car had to be impounded. If Briana was license driver the car should have been released to her. But then they can not collect bogus impound fees

How did they not explain why they are being charged? This should be clearly explained on the police report.
What evidence did they have that he had just smoked, it does not seem that they found anything but recently purchased weed.
I really hope the Darius does have a good lawyer and sues the deptment

  12. "oh it seems as though your skin — I mean windows are too dark so we need to steal your car, your money, your phone, and you got any more weed?"
