Even the business community has signaled support for the proposal as Spain’s economy craters during the coronavirus pandemic.

This makes total sense. Even aside from virus, the workplace is drastically changing. To make the changes within the workplace that are necessary such as retraining and keeping up with new tech and robotics, etc. Healthcare is not really properly accessible when tied to employers. Employment is very fluid and this makes employer based healthcare untenable.
I love Spain so much. It's full of incredible people.
biggest scam in human history
People still holding out their hands for welfare. Its the barbell around their needy necks. Never do they consider the eventual price. That's the real crisis.
creat government jobs and get people working that would be better than UBI. Digitizing government records could be a valuable job for everyone.
This sheds some hope. ¡Saludos desde California!
Permanent basic income is a humane and the most viable policy.
Somewhat ok, mediocre interview, discussion, and I'll give this a THUMBS DOWN, because you also didn't clearly say what UBI means. DON'T use acronyms without saying what they mean. Based on your discussion I think you mean "_universal basic income_ " and if that's what you mean by UBI, then you later come to say something like 500 Euro or $500, maybe 550, USD per month, per person. I guess the aim is to KILL most of us. If that's less than welfare, then go for welfare, I guess. Carefully consider this, " More Will Die from the Response to COVID-19 Than From the Virus ", by Kevin Ryan, March 31, 2020, https://digwithin.net/2020/03/31/covid.
Bad news, universal basic income makes… disposable. The very definition of useless eaters. Next stage: hunger games and the hunt.
Isn't it interesting that Spain, with some of the strictest lockdown policies, is also one of the countries hardest hit by the pandemic?
That because they have Petro dollar
this needs to happen asap in the states and the program must cover everyone with no deductions for ANY debts they may owe- as is the case with this BS stimulous program
Mass slavery
It's strange that virtually every west or north European nation has done something about this crisis, EXCEPT the ones of Anglo-Saxon origin. Australia, US, Britain and even to a degree Canada have done nothing, it's probably the fact that capitalism was itself created by Anglo-Saxons. Think about it, the worst and most destructive states in the world regarding climate crisis are right now the US, Australia, and Canada (the most destructive fossil fuel are Canadian tar-sands) all Anglo-Saxon dominant nations.
People think that the world is dominated by Europeans, and their right to certain extent. However, it's dominated by north-western Europeans, the Fins and Greeks don't compare to it and in fact are often subjected to north-west European aggression. Even in the "global north-west" Germany and France don't compare to the power of Britain, or America, and it's a particular part of those nations, the Anglo-Saxon portion, the Scotts and Welsh have little to do with it and are often just used by the Anglo-Saxons as canon fodder. Italy has just found out what European solidarity means, after being betrayed and left to die by the rest of northern Europe as Cuba and China were the only ones who came to help her.
This isn't new, all throughout European history the more powerful states have subjected the least poweful ones to their rule, Whether it was ancient Rome to Germanic tribes or Germans to the Greeks WW2, it's mere matter of power. There is no such thing as European solidarity, there is only the rulers and the ruled, and the ruled have more in common with other oppressed nations than they do with the their rulers, no matter how much similarities they hold. Nations like Italy and Greece have found that out the hard way.
what?
we're an oligarchy not capitalists
Stop dubbing and start subtitling. It's really annoying for those that actually want to hear the original audio.
Now is a good time for the universal wage
Not a good idea. Sooner or later, the billionaires will tire of having so many mouths to feed. Look for increased automation of everything possible, such as cars, stores online everything. Eventually, most of us will be made redundant. Then look out.
At 67 I am glad my time is short. I have lived a humble life and glad, not overly proud to be a working class Canadian. Perhaps this will empower the left.
