A new study by the OECD shows that particularly millennials and the US middle class is being squeezed by expenses that rise faster than their incomes, but the phenomenon is taking place in all developed countries

  1. The foundation of the economy is the land. If you allow markets in land, you have accepted your ultimate fate of becoming slaves to the last few major owners.

  2. this is the roof of all of our problems globally, the death of the "middle" class and the rise of global poverty combined with the extreme rise in wealth of the billionaires. It's capitalism taking it's logical course. It will take a global revolution to overthrow the elites and install a new economic system based upon socialist principles

  3. There is too much inflation making wages stagnant for the working class because large corporations and the rich pay too little tax. It's an international problem, but the US is among the worst offenders in undertaxing the powerful.

  4. @The Real News Network : Fine interview, I guess, but I'll only Like it and add it to my TheRealNews playlist; no others, given that I have too much difficulty understanding everything the guest said in this. That's only due to his accent. It's like when I was in college and university, for professors to be able to get or certainly to keep my attention they had to speak very clearly. I didn't have a problem with professors of British origin, but there was a very good algebra teacher at or during university who was Chinese, and plenty of students very briefly remarked on his Chinese accent, while it seemed to affect or hinder me more; I think much more. He had tenure-ship, which I was told a teacher had or has to have been teaching full-time for at least 10 years to get for status, but he still had a little too much Chinese accent for me to be able to always clearly understand exactly what he said. He was a fine man, personally, but not greatly suitable for clear communication, not in class anyway. It "threw me off" a little too much, enough that I spent two of the three hours of the final exam for advanced algebra II doing nothing, due to I guess some depression because of there having been too many occasions when his accent "threw me off"; and, he came to me after about 2 hours to tell me that I should start writing the exam. Still passed the exam adequately well, of course not as well as if I had really used the whole three hours; and, I understood him more clearly than the guest in this TRNN interview. Huh.

  5. Our current FIAT, fractional lending system means banks create money from nothing as debt. The more dollars in circulation, the less value each dollar has. This is inflation and why prices rise. If minimum wage kept up with inflation, it would be around 20 dollars an hour today.

  6. Why do we allow our governments to keep us enslaved in manade debt.
The solution to ending this austerity created by banksters.
If we could get the people behind this that is all it would take

  7. The Trump administration is inept and criminal. POTUS does not know how to govern, negotiate and only does things that benefits himself or makes him money. He is greedy, a racist and a heartless person. He is the worst US president ever!

  8. NeoLiberalism, globalization, low income, are they problems? Is this a real news? Why is there no talk of global #corruption in governments, politicians, socialists, conservatives, right, left, democrats, republicans, liberals, religion, neo-feudalism? They are not interesting to give us civil rights and #freedom. This is an #anti-corruption war.

  9. They want to turn U.S. labor into the new china- why export labor when you can create cheap labor in the poor rural states? I'm in rural Kentucky, we have loads of factories: They are usually temp, start at around $10-12 with a 2.5 hr commute. Amazon seems to like it here… them, and the freeloading churches. This problem exists in the cities also I'm sure.

  10. Get the women out of labor pool. The idea of equal rights for women when they are the prime species is crazy. Men die kill and are supposed to be the protectors and should not be compromised in that obligation by the very women. The concept of family and role of parents and children needs to be revisited. One family one income must be our goal. If our women don't realize the cost of this liberal movement it will turn into a liberal fascism at a great loss to our humanity, family, neighborhood, town, state, country, world ……
I like to see a future for humanity that will live in harmony with nature in open spaces and prairies not in concrete structures jammed up like sardines or the worst on some outer space station.
It's possible by reducing our consumption and getting back to our natural roles as guardians and caretakers of the next generations vs. work and material junkies.

  11. I heard the gas prices are gonna sky rocket by SUMMER, Iran SANCTIONS gonna sink middle class, heard Texas oil BARRONS are gonna be happy. The people will freak out.

  12. Yeah, but what are we going to do? We have to have our Starbucks coffee every morning. And we have to have our Appley Apple computers, and Apple smartphones, and apple watches, and our top-of-the-line Bose speakers. And, let me not forget our Mercedes, or BMWs.

We need to wise up people. These companies don't give a flying 4 iron about you. Look at how angry they get when they don't make their 3rd quarter earnings. All they care about is their shareholders; a bunch of people who sit around and do nothing but move their money around hoping to get another half a percent.

So Prima, are you telling us to stop buying Apple products? YES, stop playing the game. Apple makes $400,000 per employee. moreover, the product- quality to price- ratio doesn't match up.

And, don't wait for government to do anything. Government doesn't run the corporations, the corporations run the government.

  13. All of the gains in the US go to the stock market / housing market. That's generally age 60+ Americans (homeowners) / "the 1%" / global investors / pension holders.

The US is a vampire economy. Similar to living in the Oliver Twist era from England's past or the early 20th century robber baron era of the US.

Global property speculation and banking bailouts helped you if you were old and destroyed you if you were young. When the elders of a nation sell their youth out across the board the nation will fail, it's cannabilistic / zombie-esque.

  14. Left policies homogenize classes until there are only 2, if you are lucky 3 classes left. So yes, current policies are sucking the wealth out of the bottom half of the middle class and giving it to the people who in many cases are refusing to earn their own keep. You make 50k a year? Eh you live just like this person over here who make 20k a year, who lives just the like the person who refuses to work. This creates an eat the rich mentality that can then be used to gain even more power and the cycle continues until the bottom 80% all live the same and the upper 20% are untouchable.

  15. That is because the concept of counties is no different than that of gangs. Bound to a certain territory where members work to pay for wars with rival territories. Look to where the concept of counties and gangs were first created. The areas of the are the same. The areas are also where the concept of class for members was created. This is the history of Europe.
