More than 700,000 Rohingya Muslims fled from Myanmar to Bangladesh two years ago following a brutal army crackdown. This week, more than 3,000 of them were told that they were eligible for repatriation. But all have refused to go, saying that conditions back in Myanmar are still dangerous. DW reports from a refugee camp near Cox’s Bazar in Bangladesh.

  2. Well look at the true history rather than your selective history to promote your overt agenda. 1943 you butchered and tried to cleanse Rhakine state of any Buddhists. Upon Independence you started a Jihad that lasted to 1973 when the Army defeated you. Towns that you stole like Maung Daw the original property owners could come back. This current round had a murky start of a rape case but again you organized a systematic uprising which again shocked your Buddhist neighbors on the scale and butchery you love to portray. As for you naive fools who believe that there can be harmony with these Bengalis- WAKE UP- this was as the Palestinian would say A Land Grab-
Islam is not tolerant of other faiths and demands conversion which isnTHE SOURCE of FRICTION between the two communities. The Bengali poor and uneducated come to Rhakine state to claim it as their own! Now the educated Rhakine Muslims are known and are citizens who disavow the actions of these Islamic Conquistadors. The Army who has no real love for Rhakine ( given the historic friction between Rhakine who the Brits favored under colonial rule vs the oppressed Burmah elevated by the Japanese) which is pretty underdeveloped does what the Army excels in. This cycle of butchery will stop when my neighbor stops coveting the land and stops the historic fiction and lies which any serious historian will debunk.

  3. The Rohingya now realize their ambitions to seize the Rakhine territory have been utterly catastrophic for them and they will never be welcome back in the region. Don't try to send them back.

  4. Sorry but, we been fed for decades by fairy tales about repression on sunni muslims in Afghanistan, in CCCP or Russia, Libya, Syria now in Myanmar and Kashmir, but every time it was that sunni muslims finnanced by Saud's do repression on other in that countries. Many countries are destroyed by violent wahabbists, but some defended themselves. These are not victims, these are aggressors who lost.

  5. Such a sad situation. These people are clearly refugees from an ethnic cleansing campaign against them. Myanmar doesn't want them and doesn't consider them citizens even, but no other nation claims them either. In a world carved up into nation-states, where do a people go that are rejected by the nation of their birth? Truly inhumane. Perhaps the US should get together with Europe and create a little Israel for them on someone else's land, like we did for Jews post-WWII with Palestinian land. Or maybe Greenland?

  6. I wish these victims well. May matters seriously improve for them. I know it's real, but it nonetheless is incredible how much there's injustice and lack of humanity in this world. It'd be welcome to be able to pinch ourselves, to wake up to a much improved world; but, that is just a DREAM. We'll wake up, sure, but to no serious improvements.

  7. Shame on the government of Myanmar. Shame on the United Nations. Shame on the United States. Shame on Trump, Pence, and their administration. Shame on the Republican Party. Shame on those within the "Democratic?" Party who behave more like Republicans than they do "Democrats?". Shame on ALL conservative, Right-Wing governments around the world.

  8. Go back in time I remember when the USA press told us that freedom and democracy won in Burma when Aung san was elected and the democratic values she stands for. The Muslime are not that innocent remember how they destroyed Buddist temples in Afganistan and ridiculed Buddhists because Buddhists are beliving in many gods

  9. Do Muslims get along with any of their non-Muslim neighbors? Seems to be quite a pattern. The Koran does seem to suggest that non-Muslims of the book should be relegated to the class of second class citizen, whereas people who are not of the book (Buddhists, Hindus, pagans, etc) should be given a chance to convert and then exterminated. Might make for some difficult communal interactions. Golly, I imagine it's everyone else's fault though.
As an acquaintance from Bali one said "when those bombs went off in the nightclubs, nobody wondered which community was responsible."

  10. What you should be raising holy hell about is how the DNC is screwing Tulsi Gabbard by purposely targeting her for elimination because she took down one of their corrupt chosen ones Kamala Harris. Fix the corruption at home before trying to fix the corruption abroad.
