In a historic vote, the Senate voted 56-41 to withdraw military support for the US-Saudi war on Yemen. Yemeni-American community organizer Rabyaah Althaibani, whose family has been divided, tells TRNN’s Ben Norton she could not be happier.

  1. The final push for good the Senate will do before it becomes more and more Republican. Starting January 2019, Trump will have even more power and can then basically do whatever he wants without consequence. :/

  2. This is not a civil war, this is a proxy war within a major PROXY war between America and Russia. America is supporting Saudi Arabia, while Russia supports Iran. The Saudis are directly waging this war against a specific faction of the Yemeni population, the Houthis, who want to overthrow the Saudi-backed government that had originally been in power for 32 years prior to the Arab uprisings around the Middle East and North Africa. And unfortunately, the Iranian government is taking advantage of this uprising by supporting the Houthis militarily and logistically. So this is not a typical civil or sectarian war, it's a proxy war between regional powers, who themselves are pawns of major world powers. Another problem is that the Saudis have hijacked Islam and apparently have a false notion of being the custodians of a religion that's nearly 1.5 billion strong, meaning they can influence the hearts and minds of millions through their bastardized Wahhabi ideology. And since they are too weak to fight Iran themselves, they would rather destroy an innocent neighbor that, more than likely, has mineral riches and geo-strategic importance. This is just a continuation of the Arab revolutions that originated in 2011, but now they have taken on a whole new dimension. The sooner the Saudi monarchy itself is overthrown and gotten rid of, the better it will be for a lasting peace process in the greater Middle East and Islamic world.

  3. This is a good step toward saving people from US aggression who supplies the Saudis with weapons as does Canada and probably other Nato countries. .

  4. How pathetic when you recall how Trump bemoaned the alleged gassing of the "beautiful children" in Syria. We don't see Trump sympathize for the beautiful Yemeni children. This is beyond hypocrisy or lunacy. It's downright evil how Western leaders claim to fight for human rights when they murder children by the hundreds of thousands.

  5. Paul Ryan, did this to avoid having to answer to his constituents for supporting murder of innocent civilians. Being a Catholic, he will have to answer to God for this grievous sin and face eternity burning in hell.

  6. Thank you Bernie, Murphy and Lee! I don't agree with Lee on 85% of policy but this is something worth working with people like him on!
