  1. DIY. If the system is broken, get together and create a better one at your community level. The 'Traditional' model of education is dead. Question, think deeply, question, discuss, organise, plan, enact. Best Wishes Baltimore.

  2. Baltimore Schools were the 2nd highest recipient of funding in Maryland in 2017. This chart shows how much each district received that year. https://conduitstreet.mdcounties.org/2017/10/04/chart-shows-marylands-2017-school-funding-per-student/

In 2017 Baltimore schools received just under $17,000 per student. That's higher than many schools across the country. The problems in the Baltimore schools are not caused by a lack of funding. Pretending that the failure is about money is a distraction. A real investigation into the failure of the district is required. If people truly care about the future of the kids then they will dig until the real causes are found.

  3. They cant spend on education… how will they profit from private prisons? You cant have both.. if i stab someone they pay for me to go to prison.. if i want to educate myself they cant pay for that… lol

  4. I once read a brochure printed by the state of Alaska that said one of the prime indicators used to determine the number of prison cells that will be needed in the future is the current education level of third graders. More education = less prison, and education is way cheaper both in the short term and in the long term.

  5. Here's a thought. Make it unconstitutional to provide military aid overseas without funding public services and infrastructure at home first. The military industrial complex will see a prerequisite investment in communities, before profiteering from war.

  6. The very wealthy have long been manipulating the housing, health, income and educational opportunities of the masses – oppressing every social class and benefiting only their own. It's time for a national change.

  7. I would be following the money trail from the state to the School Districts, School Districts are shady AF, District Staff giving themselves huge bonuses at the end of the year, middle of the year etc., look at them brand new cars…checkout the equiptment building services department purchase, how many books, computers, funding for field trips, athletic equiptment, etc. could have been purchased had the mismanagement of funds and embezzling been stopped, sooner.

  8. Too brief, imo, but still a fine short report. I wish these young people WELL. Didn't work out well for me when I was young, ok, but I wish these people well, good success. I don't know everything that I lost, was more-or-less cheated out of, but do know enough in this regard and don't wish the same for others. The society NEEDS real justice, but when that will happen is " beyond me ", not being able to guess when, or if, it'll come to BE. Nonetheless, I wish these young adults well.

  9. What does it matter? Most of you are completely out of control, further contribute to the fact that there's an understandable teacher shortage accordingly, and you lose your minds and get all surprised when a cop has to drag you out of the classroom. Who in their right minds would pay for that?

  10. I don’t think money is the answer, more teachers that want to teacher and reach children and no more indoctrination.

  11. More money for illegals who bread babies like rabbits! What these inner city students don’t realize all the funds go to educate the illegals who are not Americans

  12. It's because the schools are funded by School Taxes/Property Taxes therefore the city schools, gets let's funding! There needs to be a better/fairer system for All schools! Us minorities Always, get less! #Bernie/2020

  13. They spend billions of dollars on "For-Profit Prisons". They spend millions of dollars on Armored Police Vehicles and Paramilitary equipment for Police and then they wonder why inner-city Black young males are 90% more likely to go to Prison than College. 6 generations of dysfunctional families and poverty should make Black Folk sick to their stomach. Help us, LORD!

  14. We can't afford to fund both the Military and public schools, there's not enough money. Get real. Suck it up. We're going to create a Military Space Force we can all be proud of!

  15. Baltimore is a sh___ole. No amount of money will fix it. Two parent families (a biological male and biological female) would go a long way to help that "city". More gibmedats will solve nothing.

  16. Don't be fooled into individualistic thinking that charter or private schools are the solution – they are NOT.

  17. It is not rocket science, public education including free universities is an investment that more than pays for it itself. It is not complicated, nor is it too expensive and out of reach.

  18. ¡there are too many university educated idiots oops college educated zombies who support verified selfish and greedy and corrupt and evil people! – written at 6:14 PM Pacific Standard Time on Monday, 27 January 2020 – ¡Twitter without explanations arbitrarily suspended @maxrafaelwaller and @mrwaller3!

  19. "The key to restoring quality education is to replace the bureaucratic control of education with a free market in education. Parents should have the freedom to select the type of education that best suits their child's unique needs."
    Dr. Ron Paul

  20. The entire concept of funding schools based on the costs of homes in each district is inherently designed to disadvantage poor kids.
