I was incarcerated in Tygart valley regional jail and all the money my family sent in to me the jail was taken 40 percent of my money for child support and when I went in front of family law Master they ordered the jail to send copy of all my funds and the jail sent false papers back saying that the money they took out for child support was false that i donated all the money to candle funds

4. This is nuts. They are totally shaking down prisoners and their families. How this is legal is beyond reason.

5. I've done a lot of state and federal time..they feed you nasty food.. I've seen bag of potatoes that said "not for human consumption" then you an only buy commissary from them which is Hella expensive it's a scheme of there's. So the inmate trust fund, is a trust fund they make money off the interest and that is OUR money..the families who send it and the inmates who work, they use that money to also buy the officers uniforms and shit but overcharge us to buy sweats and stuff. It is criminal what they are doing, they signed the contracts saying they will keep em 95% full and it should be them locked up

I can't say that I know all about this subject however if you kill someone you are taking 100% of the victims money for life … I say withholding 100% of the guilty killers money until restitution is paid is not unreasonable … It's prison … If your not guilty that's another story … Each case has to be judged accordingly … If you can't do the time don't do the murder … I'm sure there are many killers that deserve to be dead rather than being kept in prison …

11. I know people who've been in and out of prison several times. They complain about the food, lack of privacy, and this very issue right here and every time, my response is, why don't you not commit the crimes to get in you in there in the first place that way, you don't have to worry about getting ripped off!!

They should always be terrified of being confronted by their ex-inmates . If I saw one at walmart it would be a very ugly confrontation . 15. That at no low amount, I was getting like $4.80 a week working 16 hours a day 6 days a week. I was working the mess hall and we had to be there by 4am and by the time we got back to the unit and showered, we had to go straight to programming and school until 9pm. At 9:15 pm we hit the bed.

Man I did 11 years in a New York State Department of Corruptions for smiling on a cloudy day, conspiracy to commit philosophy and thinking in public and I'm telling you, the state takes 100% of the first money that you have coming in and 50% of it after that until you get all paid off unless you have the judge waive it or postpone it until you get released. So you have someone send you 5 or 10 bucks to get rid off the initial 100% so that after that at least you get half of what your people send you. Unless you want to pay off your fines and restitution and crime victim fees from out the gate.

19. I’m a crime victim, I have very little sympathy for a man who complains that he has to save for 4 months for his new kicks when the person whose life he took will never buy anything ever again.

    How are convicts going to pay restitution to their victims if the money isn’t confiscated from them in the first place? We all know that nothing would get paid otherwise.

    The victims should come first. Maybe you should publicize your story from a perspective of: “Learn from my mistakes. Not only will you do time, but you will become an indentured servant until your debts are paid.”

    Hearing a convicted murderer crying about his financial hardships makes me question his “rehabilitation”. Besides being convicted and serving your time, what are you doing to atone for taking someone else’s loved one away forever?

20. In Virginia some crimes come with fines. I just reviewed a situation where an inmate got 8 years, 30 years probation and about $4,000 in fines.

    So – watch for fines going up as this could be an income source for the for-profit system. In Virgina, they might tell you their system is not "for profit". That's not true. The state owns the land and buidlings. All the administration is, for the most part – for profit.

    Not sure about the for-profit aspect of probation.

22. I just had a prosecutor comment not getting why hearsay and suspiscious but twice stated unsure claim are not grounds to effdct an arrest or lawfully detain. Guy got shot in the head and is now in their custody and i never saw a crime one cept the cops. Videos Leak Police and its the walmart police involved shooting vid. 26. This is so wrong on some many levels. My problem with this money grab is hurts both victims ' families and perpetrators ' families. The only person making money is the executives of prisons and officials in government.

27. Everything about the prison system is designed to keep people in prison or have them return to prison after they are released. They want to penalize their families & alienate them from encarerated family members. The best way to stop recidivism is to keep prisoners connected with family & friends to have a network of support.

29. Thought you were going to talk about civil asset forfeiture. The cops have been known to raid homes of prisoners and paroles, and then just forfeit any moeny or valuables they find. The Breona Taylor murder was such a raid. Literally, robbing from the incarcerated or formerly incarcerated.

30. Is every state building new prisons? I know PA was building new and enlarging old. Then they say they are loosing money. That's a crock. When is the last time you heard of a state loosing money. California is the exception. They are a bunch of idiots and here is why I know this! They want environmentally everything. They are hypocrites. All you have to do is watch one of the many police chases. 50 count them 50 cop vehicles chasing a car doing 70 on the freeway.
