The Green New Deal Must Fight Militarism

1. Yes, ending militatism should be priority #1. Pollution is bad enough, but the war machine has killed millions of people needlessly and displaced millions more. Let's be known as protectors of our environment instead of merchants of death.

2. Why can’t sane people like Madea be running our country?

3. Every sane person seems to agree: We need to stop the out-of-control militarism and the juggernaut of the national security state. Halting this agenda offers an opportunity for reform across a host of critical challenges.

   Unfortunately, there is little chance, even with Trump's campaign rhetoric proposing rapprochement with Russia, that our ruling elites will come to their senses. The moral rot in our nation's capital if far too advanced.

   The only hope I see is a grassroots uprising, a soft electoral revolution. The problem there, of course, is most Americans are now brainwashed to see Russia as a lethal threat and Putin the Devil incarnate.

   I have a solution. It is as crude as it is unorthodox. But what do we have to lose?

   I literally "pay" people — based on sound reasoning and an accurate portrayal of the agenda of the neocon lunatics and military-security complex kleptocrats — to embrace peace. I make it financially rewarding to look objectively at what is going on and demand redress.

4. The US military bases around the world are not relics of WW2 as much as they are necessary to maintain US global hegemony. The US is an imperialist Empire that maintains its politico-economic domination through militarism. And although it might be true that the military doesn't create as money jobs as claimed, it is true that millions of jobs in this country are dependent on military production. The problem isn't that the military doesn't create enough jobs; the problem is that too many people earn a living by producing weapons that kill people around the whole world. Our whole economy and way of life in the US are based upon the oppression and exploitation of colonized people in Africa, Asia and Latin America.

6. 6 trillion borrowed for counterproductive military since 2001 would have bought enough solar and wind farms ,,and batteries to power every home and factory in the USA. Energy security.manufacturing advantage.

7. "The Green New Deal" is NOT an 'umbrella term', it is the NAME of the 2016 platform of the GREEN PARTY OF THE US. This original Green New Deal already includes a 3-part platform plank on ending militarism: 1) reducing military spending by 50% and closing U.S. military bases around the world;
   2) restoring the National Guard as the centerpiece of our system of national defense; and, 3) creating a new round of nuclear disarmament initiatives.

9. The US military is the number one source of environmental degradation in the world, & this goes well above & beyond fossil fuels. There are things worse than fossil fuel. Moreover, without an alliance with a revived anti-war movement aimed at shutting the war machine down, the US military will simply appropriate the superficial label of “green” as a selling point with which augment its image.

11. The bases are quite required if you want to be the global hegemon. If you want to fight the 'militarist' you must also understand that they are trying to control the world ( the bases encircle Russia&China) because that is what the corporations who needs and wants all the markets also demand.

    The 1000 bases really isn't a matter of incompetence and you will not be dealing with people that will give up their empire without a fight…

Also William Mitchell and Warren Mosler. They both have excellent books to read and learn how Federal government taxes do not fund government spending
