The Showdown at UPS | Working People – Everything Law and Order Blog

We are less than two weeks away from what could be the largest single-employer strike in US history. As of this recording, contract negotiations between United Parcel Services (UPS) and the International Brotherhood of Teamsters have reportedly “collapsed”—and the clock is ticking until the current contract expires on July 31. If a deal is not reached and a strike occurs, what will it look like for 340,000 Teamster UPSers to walk off the job? What are the key issues that workers are prepared to strike over? And what can we all do to support them, whether a strike occurs or not? In this episode, we continue our coverage of the historic UPS contract fight by talking to Rikki Schreiner, a shop steward for Teamsters Local 638 in Minnesota who has worked for UPS since 1999, and Amber Mathwig, a part-time UPS warehouse worker and member of Teamsters Local 638.

  1. 🤔🤫
    WITHOUT THE PART TIMER .
FULL TIME WOULD NOT 🚫 BE FULL .
THEY WOULD BE HALF OR PART TIME WORKERS 😂
    SO MUCH WORK

    SO LITTLE TIME .

  2. It’s sad to say this put they don’t want to pay part timers more bec they have no problem hiring people at there current rates

  3. Yea , let's make $25 and screw people that have worked for the company 17 years to get paid that! These people are gritty just like Ups.

  4. There is plenty of capacity in the trucking industry due to the crooks illegally occupying the Federal Government and there actions with their desire to destroy the American Taxpayers purchasing power.

  5. WORKERS UNITE, PART TIME, FULL TIME, PERMANENT, OR TEMPORARY. STAND WITH THE TEAMSTERS, TAKE BACK OUR FREEDOM! DON'T LEAVE YOUR DEMOCRACY AT THE DOOR AT WORK! DON'T LISTEN TO THE MEDIA OR CAPITALISTS. GO FULL FORCE AND DEMAND EVEN MORE THAN JUST HIGHER PAY. DONT STOP AT PAY, PUSH FOR SHORTER WORK WEEKS, FREE HEALTHCARE, FREE EDUCATION, AND THE END OF THE SUFFERING OF THE WORKING PEOPLE. THEY WILL KNOW OUR FURY!!!!

  6. 57:00 – We want people to be able to speak English on the floor & while doing deliveries so they can understand & be safe! “Watch out!” “This is dangerous – This is safe!” Need to be understood without having to go through 2 or 4 repetitions in different languages! It doesn’t need to be people’s primary language, but people do need to speak, read & write English! I wouldn’t be allowed to work in Mexico if I didn’t speak Spanish; France if I couldn’t speak French; Germany – German, and likewise for every other country on the planet!

  7. If everyone were suddenly dead except the oligarchs they would have to grow crops and keep livestock to survive. Bizzare world where the few can take so much and get away with it.

  8. I can’t wait for Legacy Media to NOT cover the strike from the workers’ point of view & for NPR & PBS to not cover it at all except for the disruption to the economy!

  9. Well I’m out here trying to make it, can’t you you see… It takes a lot of money to make it, let’s talk truthfully.

  10. The carpenter always hath lived hand to mouth. Understanding how enlightenment has rescued the mind from Matter . Ergo et Sum.

  11. They might like to work there, but ask them if they do there job right !! I can not get them to deliver a package any where on my property. If I don't get a package and I call them they say we left it at your garage, I tell them I don't have a garage the next time I call they said they left it at my side door, I don't have a side door. I can go on and on with stories. Maybe if they did their job, I would be on their side. I've had 13 packages missing in the last 8 months.

  12. Have you covered gig work. Reason I ask is UPS bought a gig company named Roadie. Where they pay now pay peanuts compared to what they pay their drivers without the overhead. It’s on early stages but as time goes on I think more and more of their deliveries will be farmed out to Roadie

  13. If the Gov. Will ONLY help companies then these companies NEED to devise a concept for supplemental pay through web3. Remidiate America's DEBT through web3. Supplemental pay in cryptoCurrencies is required. Register EVERY person with (start at Gov.) "Cardano" Network enable ALL to vote & then pay out in a Universal Basic Income, cash or crypto.
