To intimidate the Soviet Union and prove to Congress the nuclear program should be funded, Truman dropped nuclear weapons on Japan to end the war; no scientist came forward to warn of the dangers to life on earth, says Daniel Ellsberg on Reality Asserts Itself with Paul Jay

  1. War is evil! Controlled by banking elites, who fund both sides!
People are expendable pawns, sacrificed foe the sake of power, prestige and greed, at the expense of human lives, innocent, of what there corrupt politicians and leaders do!

  2. the clarification by Ellsberg here is that Truman did it. He made the decision to drop the bombs, not the military. Truman wanted to impress Stalin. He made clear to those who objected tghat he didnt care about the immorality of it, and he lied to Americans about the necessity of it. But the other point is Truman could not have done it without the implicit backing of his silent majority: scientists, advisors and the Generals that were in the game, aware of the questions, but indifferent or careless. Those giving the orders in the chain of command like Gen.s Harris and Lemay are now classic examples of America's criminal refusal to face its own war crimes and prosecute its own war criminals. This refusal has laid the foundations for corruption in america. Today america makes no pretense to law or morality by covert attacks on civilians without a declaration of war and without any fig leaf or moral justification.
Most of the scientists like Feynman and Szilard backed the bomb, others kept quiet, all feared damaging their precious sinecures. A few bravely spoke up: Oppenheimer opposed it and met with Truman. The Franck Committee and Petitions opposed it but never reached Truman. Joseph Rothblatt resigned from the Manhattan Project and he wrote Truman. 3. the same is true now with AI. the clowns developing AI know what the risks are but dont want to speak out or leak it out – they want to protect their careers. the only people who are going to speak out are the retirees.

  4. Here is a twist to consider. Had the world entered a nuclear weapons era (which was coming) without the examples of a mass killing such as Hiroshima and Nagasaki, would there not have been a greater chance of a larger mass extermination across the planet? It is a tragic world that we live and die in.

  5. I'm sure this is a very interesting interview but I can hardly hear a word of it because the volume is low and Daniel Elsberg talks in a tiny whispery voice.

  6. What many people fear is that presently the US military/industrial/banking complex is developing secretly weapons in space, which would "trump" the nuclear doomsday machine.

  7. The British starting bombing German cities in May 1940, the day after Churchill took office. The Germans, months later, bombed London in retaliation.

  8. Truman is the reason the bomb was dropped. He knew it wasn't necessary, but did it anyway. It was Truman's way of appearing tough.

  9. Truman was a tiny, tiny man with an ugly ego. The Hague prosecuted only a fraction of the criminals. Operation Paperclip brought the most vulgar of high-level Nazis over to the US who is rumored to include Dr. Josef Mengele who got rebranded as Dr. Green. The obvious criminal is Wernher von Braun for the US space program. The world is not what we think it is, in many ways the forces that financed the Nazis profited from WW2 and got the claws deeper into enslaving humanity via the banks. The Nazis actually won.

  10. I wish there was a playlist. Hunting these down in order is a challenge. I can't find the last few parts. Are they not released yet?

  11. Why do you think the wall street dems chose the "ham sandwich" to be VP?, he replaced Henry Wallace who would have never dropped the bomb and was enemy of wall street. Remember it was wall street dems NOT repubs that planned the coup against FDR

  12. In the end Snowden is even more a Hero. Ambition, Status trumps morality. Even in my youth I knew ambitious was a trap. Egotistical. Human.

  13. The war was prolonged because FDR wanted to give China, North Korea, eastern Europe and North Vietnam to Stalin.
The Japanese offered the same terms as the US accepted eventually after they lost the Battle of Leyte Gulf. The German Army which had a lot Jewish and half Jewish generals offered to surrender to England in 1938 and again in March of 1939. 58 million people died worldwide after the Japanese Emperor had tried to surrender in 1936 and the German Army had tried to surrender in March of 1939. The Rothschild owned Bank of England had loaned Hitler $1.75 billion in 1935-36 so they could re-arm and scare the world into WW II which was nothing other than an attempt to expand Communism.

  14. I heard that Heisenberg was so against the bomb, that he used the wrong cross section of carbon in his analysis to determine how to propagate a chain reaction. Germany might have won the race to build the bomb, had he been onside. There is no crime in learning these secrets, because we got to the doorstep in the 1930s. Someone was bound to go in, and ideally a sane government would learn how to limit it from rogue governments.
My grand uncle said the bomb saved his life, because he was island-hopping, at 50% casualties per island.
Nuclear power is a clean source of energy, with an unfortunate trail of waste. The waste produced world wide in 70 years of nuclear power is less than the amount of toxic waste released to the atmosphere every day from coal fired energy plants. The biggest US radioactive leak happened 10 years ago when a coal slurry pond was breached and the contents flowed into a river.

  15. I asked my dad, who worked on the Manhattan Project making the cyclotron more efficient, how he felt when they dropped the bomb on in Japan. His answer was, “Our responsibility was to build it. As to when to use it that was not our decision.” So he basically refused to own any connection.

  16. Yes we should have brought the Soviets in who as our advesary insisted they needed eastern Europe as a buffer. Buffer of what BS they produced Sputnik which was the catalyst for ICBM. However at least they didn't give a Nobel prize to the bomb makers like they did poison gas pioneers at the end of WW1!

  17. Yeah it's even crazier when you read about the Soviet Manchuria operation and the fact that the Japanese fought America in the first place because they perceived us as weaker (since they got badly beaten by Russia just a few years earlier during the prolonged Allied Intervention in Russia, to destroy the bolshevik revolution and strangle them before they get bigger) and possibly less likely to do something about it. The Soviets defeated practically the entire Japanese army in a few weeks, it was a masterful operation and it's practically completely unknown in America what an incredible military feat they pulled off (same goes for defeating the Nazis). The US saw itself as losing the ability to make better concessions in Berlin, AND Japan and the bomb was the only leverage we had over the entire situation. The Soviet Union and the world could have gone in a much better direction and it kills me how it's MY country which has been standing in the way of progress and causing the majority of the problems around the world for over 100 years. We've set socialism back 100 years and have to re-fight the same fights against fascism again now.

  18. My understanding is that prior to the bombs being dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki that Japan was on the point of capitulation. Russia was an ally of the US and the other allies during the WW2 and the US requested Russia to invade Japan from the north. There was no doubt that Japan would have surrendered had that happened. However, in the knowledge of that the US went ahead and dropped the two bombs on the two cities. It is estimated that over 400,000 men, women, children and elderly died as a result. It was an act of criminal cynicism and encapsulates the US establishments lack of empathy globally to this day. That act began the nuclear arms race which we still live with now and established that the US was willing to initiate a first strike nuclear attack, even when the homeland was not in any danger. Is it any wonder that Russia is alarmed at the constant progression of the US/NATO alliance ever closer along its borders, even by the hostile acts of stoking and supporting coups and encouraging European nations to join NATO. Regular US/NATO military exercises along its border and US military bases in Europe add to the anxiety, with Russia being left little time to respond in the event of an attack. The real threat to World peace is the US. One only has to note the 50 plus conflicts the US has engaged in and the 7 current ones, with their further agitation presently indicating their wish to engage in more. Imagine if Russia were to line the Mexican, Canadian borders with bases and missiles what the US reaction would be. History tells us that they would be prepared to go to (nuclear)war having the Cuban Missile crises to instruct us. That was Russia's attempt to balance the threat of US missiles in Europe at the time. It was Russia who withdrew to preserve peace. Still it is Russia that uses diplomacy. The US uses megaphones. The US unilaterally left the ICBM Missiles Treaty despite the entreaties of Russia until eventually when nobody was listening Russia announced the introduction of weapons that the US cannot defend against again to redress the imbalance which favours the US by it's proximity to Russias borders. Now the US indicated it is leaving the INF Treaty. President Vladimir Putin has said that Russia will not be first to use Nuclear weapons, but has warned that 'without Russia there is no World'. Let's hope as he said somebody is listening now.
